Modding Noritake 128x64 VFD NON-technical thread

    V is for vacuum, and that nipple is where they evacuate the glass envelope and then seal it up.

    (No I'm not moving this to the technical thread) :lol:

    Ooooooooooh! I can't wait for some software to support these! and im getting about 1,600 bucks this weekend!
    ive already got my monitor, speakers, and drives purchased. tis gonna be a nice computer!

    Ok, I just saw this thread. They look pretty tight! :rock:

    Lets say I order one of these VFDz, what would I have to have/know to get it working?

    How will it interface with the computer and what do I need to get it to interface with the computer? :confused:

    a spare printer cable and some patience. ive wired mine up but still havin problems

    The reason why i ask is because I have two of those 20x2 Huge VFD and I'm not using either of them at the moment. :waah:

    Thanks, but the funny things is I got them to work but I'm just not using it them.

    I'm tyring to get a VFD that interface with the computer via USB.

    are these displays supposed to light up when you give them power? when i got mine one did and one didnt. now both dont. and i cant for the life of me get mine to work like the guy over at haard OCP did. this is really starting to piss me off. for the past two days i have been dealing with this crappy plugin and now i think it killed both my displays. what the ****ing hell. 5 volts to pin 1 and ground pin 3 right?

    i guess im gonna have to order more if they ever go back up for auction. this is so irritating.

    The auction's back up. The displays are $18 now, though. Do a search in Ebay for "VFD Displays" and it will come up.

    well my display responds to the winamp plugin. but nothing of intrest. Not working correctly still

    Well i'll have my 6 soon (cheers RAMZ :D) so i'll be able to have a go at some wiring, hopefully i'll have a bit more luck!
