Yup considering any PC version uses Steam.
I assume they won't be able to pre-load it too.

Why? Its only one of the biggest shooters out there.

It's not just steam that has a high price tag. it's now jumped from £30 to £35 on play and amazon.

because Steam is at £40, where you can get the same game for £30 to 35 elsewhere.

i've set myself 26 as budget for this game. don't plan to buy it because of the hype.

Just bought Fable 3 from my brother for £30.
Wouldn't normally have bothered until it was cheaper but he wanted to get the collectors edition he just found.

I've heard this before but never asked for confirmation. For MW2, and now Black Ops & New Vegas, if you buy the much cheaper disc version such as MW2 £17.99 then when you install does it activate on Steam the same as if you bought it from there?

Eg: Letting you redownload it from Steam, auto updates through Steam and most importantly does it keep track of your total time played on the game in your Steam stats?

I ask because I find it interesting to see how long I've spent on each game and when I added a disc version of Prince of Persia: Forgotton Sands to Steam it didn't keep track of playing time.

Any other games that can be bought cheaper and added as if they were bought on Steam?

Yes. There is no difference between the retail version and the digital version. They both use Steam and Steamworks.

Ive never preordered, ill just wait till it hits the shelfs and buy it then. Even with the hype of MW2 we still had plenty of disks on the shelfs in local stores.

Still waiting on the PC version of Fable 3 here in the USA, also picked up two extra copies of Dawn of War: Chaos Rising because it was on sale this weekend, sent em out as gifts across steam.

As for black ops, I'm actually pretty excited to see how it turns out. Been a big fan of the COD series since COD2 for PC but I'm not happy about the price. To me, if a game costs over $50 it better have a kick ass reason for doing so. I'm sure the multi-player will be top-notch or at least as good as any of the other COD games have been with all the perks, unlockables and killstreaks keeping things hectic and fun but I'm worried about the single-player. More and more these days game companies are trying to push out the next big multi-player game and are only slapping on a 6-8 hour single-player just to say they had a story to add to the whole thing. I'm not saying to make a epic 16+ hour single-player experience but I'm also not saying don't give it a shot.

To be honest MW2 was a huge turn off for me and I have always been a HUGE fan of the series. However I watched some trailers of Black Ops over the weekend and it does look quite exciting (Multiplayer - that is)

I'll have to wait and see and I might get it instead of the Vietnam DLC of BCBC2
