Ones that pop into my head right now are Abuse (DOS based platform shooter) Persian Crisis (Amiga) Total Annihilation (greatest RTS of all time)
Goldeneye -- I still haven't completed this on hardest difficulty (00 agent, was it?) Sonic and knuckles and Sonic 3 -- You know, the combo cart thing? The megadrive really was an awesome console for its time. Mario 64 -- I remember being gobsmacked by this when it first came out -- seemed such a jump in terms of graphics and gameplay, for the time. Funny that when you look back at it now the graphics are awful. Metal gear solid -- To me this is perfection in a single player game. Surprisingly I thought the remake for the gamecube was even better. Quake -- Remember when Carmack and co really pushed the envelope? Actually I guess I have more nostalgia for what ID used to be like than Quake, specifically. Resident Evil -- "Hope this isn't Chris' blood"... "You were almost a Jill sandwich" Funny, I profess to be a PC gamer but most of my favourites are console games
Way of the Exploding Fist Black Tiger Cannon Fodder Turrican Doom Duke Nukem 3D Daley Thompson's Decathalon Gran Turismo Shogun: Total War
I never played this game that much (don't think I ever had it on our Amiga, not sure which platform it originated on) but I'm surprised that no-one's mentioned this, I always loved it: 'Gauntlet' ("Warrior... is about to die..."). I have strong nostalgia for the arcade game 'Rampage' too. Again, didn't play it much but it did feature heavily during one particular camping trip where the campsite had an arcade. Other games are all iconic Amiga-based from my childhood: - Speedball 2 - New Zealand Story - Supercars 2 - 4x4 Off-road Challenge - Sensible Soccer - Great Giana Sisters - Stuntcar Racer - Switchblade - Robocod - Lotus Esprit Turbo Challenge - Graham Taylor's Soccer Challenge Spent some enjoyable time at sleepovers playing Mariokart and the penalty-shoot-outs in 'Goal' on the NES.
mainly arcade games.. but on onsole me and my friends would stay up and play this game on the midway console.. then consoles went downhill with the atari 2600 and came back with the nes- lot of games between then and dreamcast, not to mention the atari 8 bit computer 800xl, 130xe.. commodore sucked btw =] nowdays it's too bad consoles have gone totally snuffaluffagus.. on pc it was wolf3d that had me roid raged when course doom.. quake 2 is probably the most nostalgic
Anything on the Nintendo 64, as a lot of people have already said. Mystic Ninja Starring Goemon Super Smash Bros. Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time GoldenEye Phantom Crash Marvel VS Capcom 2
Super Mario Bros 2 (aka Doki Doki Panic) - as this was the first game I ever played on a home system. Pong doesn't count ;-) Apart from that, SMB3, Super Mario World, Secret Of Mana, TLOZ: A Link To The Past, Ocarina Of Time and Goldeneye are all fabulous games.
Double Dragon 2 Wonderboy in Monsterland Rastan Ghosts And Goblins Mortal Kombat II Gauntlet Legends Mace: The Dark Age Sega Rally Scud Race Virtua Fighter 3 Time Crisis 2 Metal Slug My youth spent in the arcades /sigh
Golden Axe Shinobi Streets of Rage Zero Tolerance Sonic 2 & 3 Road Rash 2 FF8 (Played before FF7 but love both equally) Tomb Raider Metal Gear Solid Resident Evil 2 Operation Winback! Half Life Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield And my fondest nostalgic gaming memory, me and my best mate sitting indoors playing Red Faction MP against bots on PS2 listening to LP's Hybrid Theory. Great times.
So many games here are truly fantastic. Simcity Sonic (all of them up until Sonic and Knuckles... 3D wasn't to bad, but then it got crap and isn't Sonic) Pitfall Zero Tolerance (Red Dot Win) Metal Gear Solid Goldeneye Duke 3d Quake Doom Constructor Raptor Railroad Tycoon Transport Tycoon
It wasnt "Z" was it? My (non conclusive) list would be... 1. UFO: Enemy Unknown 2. Mega-lo-mania 3. FFVII 4. Sim City 2000 5. A-Train (good call Pookeyhead) 6. APB 7. C&C 8. The Settlers 9. Masters of Orion 10. Baldurs Gate Not in any particular order of course.
i keep reading these threads expecting that someone will eventually mention Redmoon online. man i wish they would bring it back. i broke my leg in the spring a couple of years ago, spent my whole summer with a casked leg, indoors playing redmoon. that was great (umm). think i got to like lvl 158 or something, with a gunner. this opened up the world of mmo's to me. another great mmo was ragnarok online. still play it from time to time. other nostalgic games are (no particular order): diablo 2 lod. cs 1.1 - 1.6 total annihilation settlers (1 and 2) sim city avp (first one) dungeon keeper and a bunch of others on consoles like crash bandicoot, spyro, tomb raider, etc etc. edit: crap, just found a couple of redmoon private servers! guess i wont be playing lotro or ddo tonight. can't wait 'til i get home!
nope not at all. more japanese mecha style robots its really annoying cant think of it i spent hours on it.

Carmeggedon. Streets of Rage and Golden Axe - in the combo pack on MegaCD. Spear of Destiny Space Quest Beneath a Steel Sky Mario on the original gameboy Mario 64 Goldeneye GTA 123 (remember running over the line of joggers in GTA 1?)
