Not half as riveting as what was going on in my pants when big mike took me by the hand.

I use a variation on the cardboard/blanket trick, I "borrowed" a large bit of bubblewrap off the roll at work to drop over the windsvreen at night

All you namby pambies clearing your windscreen

Just do what a woman who tried to kill me did: Don't bother clearing the windscreen at all, and just use one hand to stop the dazzle when driving towards the sun. This way the ice on the windscreen helps - you don't see all the other scary cars on the road.

My friend uses a saw to clear the ice off his van window. The non toothed side.

Start engine, the heated windscreen, washers and mirrors turn themselves on when its less than 5C outside. Wait 2-3 minutes after clearing front-most sidewindows manually with de-icer/open and close method.

Its not posh, its a mondeo :D.

Pretty clever how they turn themselves on, although 5'C is a little optimistic for frost. :p

Not really. Frost normally forms during the night, and although the air temp is above freezing the surface of a car can still be frosty.

Last Friday I decided that my car was in serious need of a wash. (I had to do it Friday so that the car had a chance to dry completely in the garage before Monday) I drove into the carwash-place which was all steamy. My windshield turned gray within seconds. I tried to use the wipers to get the dew of my windscreen, but it had already turned to ice. It was slightly cold outside, though. (About -10deg. C) And the newspapers are telling us that it will be cold outside this week...
