More updates from Notch - a fix for the invisible respawn:
He doesn't say how optional the server update is, though...

Yes, that's all well and good (and very nice work by the main man Notch), but what about paintings? Hm? Is he not considering the fact that I've got a gallery to finish?

Wow! That was awesome! I'm at a loss for words...
(I've thought about doing something like that, but I'd just make a vagina obviously...)

    Edit: Is minecraft.net down? :O

Edit 2: Nope, back up now. :D

    GAH!
Why, oh why, can whoever built it not remove their lookout pillar afterwards? It's not that hard is it? But it is annoying to log back on and find a dirt lookout pillar erected right next to my current build. Now don't get me wrong. As I've stated before, I understand the need for lookout pillars from time to time - hell, I use them myself when I feel the need for them -, and that's fine. But remove it afterwards! Is that really too much to ask?

Furthermore, please build your pillars out of sand or gravel. It saves a hell of a lot of time for whoever's removing it as all they need is a torch.

    Precisely. Thank you.

Also, that server restart just now seems to have broken something. Now I can't log back on. :(

I restarted it because it was under crazy load for some reason and i already couldn't log in. Looks like it needed yet another restart, this time it went without error messages.

Huh, strange. I was busy building, but didn't experience any lag- not even block lag!
However, now minecraft.net seems to be down again...

    We remain on commercial cheesecake.

Well I had a good if brief look round, loved the science museum. :thumb:

I wouldn't mind starting a little build but I don't want to build anywhere someone has plans for, or where any buildings off the old map are planned to go, so are there any 'safe' areas you guys could recommend? Or is it just find somewhere undeveloped and get digging?

    Thanks. :D
I'm still thinking up new exhibits for future addition.

As long as you find an area that's not claimed or developed it's free to build.
Only downtown has certain building regulations.

    Not again.

And re: it being a bug - torches keep dissapearing from the models on the floor, too, but not actually inside the clock tower or on any of the sides.
