CPU [Solved]Removing thermal paste

Ok well the only thing i have in the house which i think would work is methylated spirits, would it work or it is overkill?

to explain my situation, it needs to be done today. im looking for advice on if it works/breaks my CPU or if there is something i can get from a supermarket or DIY store.

 

the alchohol should work.

 

Not too sure if meths will leave any residue behind.

I use Isopropyl Alcohol which I purchased from a Lloyds Chemist (think it was Lloyds but definitely a chemists).

Its around a fiver for a 500ml bottle.

Lint free coffee filters are also supposed to be very good for the application although I just use paper towel and have never had any issues.

 

Tissue is fine!! Try that first.

ok well it seems to have removed it fine, used Q-tips and a cloth. now to apply new thermal paste to check if i broke anything.

Edit: computer is now working perfectaly.

 

I've always used toilet roll, ghetto.

 

Methylated spirits works fine
