i just bought a Q8300 for my P5b but looking into the compatability only 1 version (rev. R0) works.

i've looked on all the packaging for the Q8300 and on the cpu itself but i can't see anything about which rev. it is.

    any thoughts?

    cheers.

I think the R0 refers to stepping and if this Intel page is right, they are all R0 stepping: http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=39107#ordering.

Look on the top of the CPU itself and it should show a code. Either SLGUR or SLB5W - the difference between the two being virtualisation (VT-x). Which is yours?
