I used to buy a lot from Dabs but since they got bought by BT in 2006, their prices haven't been the best.

I still compare their prices but I haven't found a reason to buy from them for a few years.

    This.

I used to be quite loyal to Dabs in the past.

Ok love the new info. I'm going to get a setup - just wondering - you mentioned in one of the sandy bridge reviews that the Asus P8P67 board was incompatible with the Titan Fenrir (my current cpu cooler) - how inconpatible are we talking? New mounting bracket? Or just will not fit! I've noticed the CPU sockets are quite close to the ram. Is this the problem? The Fenrir will most likely face upwards (top of the case) into my 200mm exhaust fan. Will this help things or make them worse?

Probably Intel pulling forward the retail release date (someone'll probably correct me with what it's technically called, but this'll do) and not telling anyone. I can't think that they've done that before... oh wait...

They weren't listed when I previously posted, they are listed now. NDA lifts Monday so they can actually send them then.

Novatech are very good, excellent on customer service. Just a bit of a nightmare drive through all the fareham traffic. No Sandybridge showing on the webpage yet though.

I must admit that dabs.com was the first site that i used to buy PC components several years back, however i haven't used them for a while due to the prices and lack of stock they seem to suffer from.

Anybody know how well these overclock when water cooled?

Don't the new motherboards use UEFI? Rather than 'EFI'?

I've seen one review that had it at 5.1GHz on air, water can only be better.

    http://www.techreaction.net/2011/01...-core-i7-2600k-overclocking-on-p67-part-12/5/

However, the chips tested are almost all likely to have been ES (Engineering Samples) and as such, are binned (selected).

This caveat from PureOverclock is relevant:

"As expected, we achieved a much higher multi, finishing with a fully stable 4.84GHz overclock. We can say unequivocally that this chip can hit the magical 5.0GHz barrier on air, but we still had a bit of work to do to get it fully stable for benching. We can confirm our chip is binned though, so it's not like any chip can hit 5GHz as we explained on the previous page. Again, a binned D1 chip can hit 5.0GHz but it's luck of the draw. So anyone that claims 5Ghz is "easy" on air cooling is blowing a whole lot of hot air; those are golden chips."

It's been said before on these forums that Sandy Bridge isn't limited by heat when OC'ing but by power. So watercooling won't make much difference

Have I missed something in the "overclocking guide"? In the Asus section, there seems to be nothing about adjusting CPU multiplier (unlike the other mobo sections), indeed it seems from the screen-shot to be set at 33, giving a non-overclocked performance? I thought this would have been explicitly covered for the Asus, the one board I'm particularly interested in?

Good reply...was it an H67 board you used for the screenshots? :D

Also, there's enough threads about when-to-buy-where. This one's for overclocking.
