i remember back when i was your age....(im 24)

 

i'l turning 22 tomorrow! maybe we can make a line; one person for each age... i guess there are enough of you with children to be able to start from one?

 

Happy birthday to all the folks with Birthdays in January, like me, next week. I'm old enough to not want to advertise my age publicly....

Would be good to see minecarts back in play.

 

I have finished a minecart tour of the mines of moria, powered using old style one way boosters. Underneath helms deep near /warp bridge2. Just follow the signs for the mines.

To anyone that wants to use it (feel free obviously), make sure you travel in the direction of the waiting cart at the station, i.e. if it is on the right of the station, go in that direction, and vice versa. Otherwise the boosters will be in the wrong direction and it'll all get a bit messy!

I think I need to reduce the size of/move the boosters because the tour on the cart is under a minute and the mines are MASSIVE, so it's going a little too fast to admire the beauty. A cool underground rollercoaster none the less.

 

For some reason, I keep getting my connection refused when I try and enter the server. Anyone else have this problem?

 

it was being restarted. I got an admin message about getting kicked. it's back up now.

Checked out the track. You're right about it being fast. Shorter boosters? Also, the first boosters aren't quite right, the two carts should pick up each other on the corner, rather than just going straight to be more reliable.

Great hall though, and the mines are excellent too. Well worth a visit, and worth a warp on its own right too.

Uhm... so... yea.... I kinda did not do like i said i would....

I did not wait and i have now a fully operational Survival Server with:

- Brand spanking new map!
- Monsters!
- hey0 (decided we could not do without) :x
- AutoBackup (every 10min incremental, every 24h full)
- Overviewer (world rendering, every 12h)

current hey0 plugins:
- Updatr (plugin updater)
- Bedrock Gap Insurance (no falling true the map)
- Uptime (useful for detecting if a restart is needed?)

Don't know what to do with admins.. they are not very much needed i think? I would like this to be a purist server, so only mining, no warps? I even thought about disabling /home.. any thoughts? I mean, it's no fun if you warp out when nearly dead when fighting monsters... dying should be a real possibility i think..

Sounds fun! And yes, purist server, disable all warping and item spawning.

Turn off the /home ability. That would make me (at least) want to survive knowing that there's no escape option if I'm out at night.

 

Yay! I can't wait to get on the survival server. Due to the nature of the game i expect a humble village near the spawn, which would be awesome.

But i really hope you guys all make it a point to replant trees.

 

Oke, a little status update...

- /warp and /(set)home are disabled for standard users

- New hey0 plugin installed (TempBan, dont think we will use it, but who knows )

- Still need to make a proper/save spawn.
(Joining in the middle of the night with nothing gets you killed )

- Looks like i'm having a little trouble with Auto-Backup... will keep an eye on that

- Want to install the hey0 CraftIRC plugin. This way i can keep an eye on the server/chat while not on

to DragunovHUN: indeed, replanting is needed and is being done

Statusupdate 2:

- Got spawn ready and safe...

- Internet went down for some reason, should be backup now since i'm posting

- Made a script so i can force an OverViewer update.

- Problems with Auto-Backup confirmed. Everything works except for the force save-all on the server.
Maybe a problem with RDP and batch/VBS. Will look into this further...

 

Xtreme_Machine: Thanx for showing us (JR and me) your survival server! It was scary at first, but got more fun when we cooperated.
And folks: guess who chopped down her first creeper!?!
I even got sulphur from the greenie!

I have been watching Coe's World and I really like the idea of a proper SMP but please don't give me the IP I have actual real life work to do...

Me, Jr and MrsFio found two skelly dungeons underneath their home, so when we get traps built, we'll never need arrows again

This new server is really enjoyable.

 

I killed a spider too - my first time using bow and arrows!

and I'm really good at both fishing and getting porkchops home and cooked for the hungry slayers..

And doing such a good job at it. I enjoy going monster-bashing with my wife.. Thanks for the server Xtreme_Machine - it's very addictive. Hunting alone sucked in SP, but here I get buddies helping out - more fun that way.. but still adrenaline-kicking!

 

Absolutely no problem! It's great seeing you two on the server together. And it's great to see everybody else ofcourse

It is/was fun for me setting all this up and getting it just the way i want. All this positive feedback is awesome!
