Hmmm come to think of it, I have truckloads of extra hardware and cases around.. Might give this a try just for shits'n'giggles. Both with all the parts out and with the mobo+cpu+cooler+psu already in.
Now there is an idea for our next LAN party. I am sure I have 2 sets of identical hardware in the scrap pile at work. 1v1 all the way!
I think the best way they should do this competition is to have all tins required for a PC as you would receive it, in the boxes. All identical components with Windows and MSN pre-installed on the hard drive. The winner is the first to PM a set address. All fair and requires the skill to actually build instead of just pluggin cables in.
You have also got to realise that they hadn't paid for any of these parts, which I am inclined to think makes them not care about how careful one should be when building a PC. I think I could get a time similar or near to that figure with all the parts laid out already and the cpu/heatsink/fan attached to the motherboard already.
But those PCs were more than halfway assembled already? I bet they couldn't mount an Intel cooler in that time. Bloody pushpins.
As everyone has said, the computers were practically pre-built. If that's building a computer, then a £2.99 microwave dish is a gourmet 3 course meal for twelve...
Impressive, not for the fact he didn't build it that quick as he just plugged in cables, but that it worked first time. I could probably put one together that quick once I'm comfortable with it, I'd just spend the next 3 hours trying to figure why in hell it won't work till I notice I've not plugged something in after taking it apart 4 times.
I give you the point. Hey folks, I know how to change a tire, is that make an engineer ? LAWL Intructions
tbh 18mins? half of it was already built for him lol I can do it in 20 getting all the parts out the box and into the case and they can't of installed windows thats at least 10mins. 30mins is easily achiveable to built and isntall a pc.
