that picture somehow feels to me too good to be true. Maybe its the small size but it looks like HDR is on or something.

To clarify, that's a random Minecraft mapping picture - not of the iPhone version. No pictures of that, yet.

I know they said if you got the game in alpha you would get all updates... does that include access to the new iphone version as well though?

will you be able to connect to the same online servers as on the pc or would it be single player only?

It was from another dev team, and was pulled off from the shelf due to copyright reasons.

Not really "announced" it as such, more "yeah we're working on it"... There's a pretty big difference...

That would preclude Apple from taking their cut. And if Apple doesn't get their cut, Apple gets angry.

Not so. Otherwise Apple would not allow free apps on their App Store. Or free upgrades of apps already purchased.

I don't really think minecraft is suited for the iphone, i mean, it can take hours of hard work just on the pc to build a decent sized cavern or so (and by decent i mean about 100*100 blocks), so just imagine tryin to build anything that size on the iphone. The ipad sure, it's screen is actually pretty big and can prob handle the game, but the smaller apple products, not so much. I think it will prob just be made for Ipad and the iphone might just have a viewer or something. Either way minecraft rocks. Over 10 hours just building a tunnel and it reached all the way through 4 lava pools, graphite, limestone, dirt, stone, and a bunch of other stuff :D. Minecraft has to be the most addicting game ever!!!

Also take a look at this awesome iPhone game similar to minecraft in a way but 2D, with Quests and other cool tidbits:

^^^ I like. It has a wonderful retro feel about it, and the 2D format lends itself nicely for a small screen.
