Hi! I need your help on this one. Is there really a big difference in terms of performance between 2 cross-fired HD 6950s (unlocked) and a 3 cross-fired 6950s (unlocked) set-up? They will be aircooled on a CM cosmos s chassis with a corsair ax1200 psu.
i would never buy 2 never mind 3 the only thing more varied in performance than Xfire is tri-Xfire with very few games making effective use of it.
Maybe in some benchmark tests, but in real life games you won't be able to tell the difference, unless you have 3 monitors or something!
Just to slightly derail the OP but on a similar note, when using say 4 monitors, and multiboxing several instances of one game (In this instance EVE Online) Would dual XFire be worth it ? NVidea isn't really that much of an option due to the limited amount of monitor support, unless I have this wrong ?
Nvidia cards will support two monitors each, ATI will support 3. I don't know if SLI will support 4 though!
In real life, two cards would provide more than enough power for pretty much any game you can throw at it. What resolution will you be playing at if you are actually looking at these setups? 1920x1200, you'd be looking at a lower end card, let alone more than one.
@will_123: i'm waiting 4 asus' maximus 4 extreme @lamboman: thnx! i have this 32" Full HD LED monitor but not 3D ready. Does that mean that the vcs' 3D Stereoscopic Support would be useless? @GiantKiwi: thnx a lot!
correct you must have a 3D capable TV or monitor for it to work to be honest 3D right now is nothing more than a gimmick and is all about tricking the eyes, i.e. its not true 3D. give it 2 to 5 years and we will have holograhic TV that display 3D the right way. (google it they already have a working prototype)
