Hi all. I previously had two GTX 260s in my machine, 'happily' folding away. One had been running too hot for a while so I've just replaced it with a GTX 460, but I can't get it to fold I have updated the graphics drivers and as I was using v.6.23 of the folding@home client I uninstalled that and installed v.6.41. Both with the same failing - in the log it states: Previous termination of core was improper. Then it just repeats: It downloads "new core: FahCore_11.exe", verifies it OK, unzips OK... and this is the part where it goes wrong in the log: [16:57:20] Preparing to commence simulation [16:57:20] - Ensuring status. Please wait. [16:57:29] - Looking at optimizations... [16:57:29] - Working with standard loops on this execution. [16:57:29] - Previous termination of core was improper. [16:57:29] - Going to use standard loops. [16:57:29] - Files status OK [16:57:29] - Expanded 73839 -> 383588 (decompressed 519.4 percent) [16:57:29] Called DecompressByteArray: compressed_data_size=73839 data_size=383588, decompressed_data_size=383588 diff=0 [16:57:29] - Digital signature verified And then it just repeats, downloading the core again. The GTX 260 still runs folding@home OK.
Yes, this sometimes happens with mixed cards. You will need to set up with the 6.23 client running on the GTX 260, and 6.3+ client running on the GTX 460. This is a good guide.
Thanks Christopher, you got me on the right track and I've sorted it now. I just had to add -forcegpu nvidia_fermi to the shortut target for the GTX 460! And the good news is the GTX 460 is running cooler than the GTX 260 it replaced
