“Blackmoon181 EDIT: Bit-tech have an article solely devoted to overclocking the 2500k. Check it out, its free! http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/cpu...ore-i5-2500k/1” I will have a good look at that once the build is done. Thanks for the pointers... thetrashcanman “its better to either use 2x2Gb or 2x4Gb for dual channel memory operation” Thats what I was really asking, on the stuff I have read 2 x 2 is better than 1 of 4 cheers too ak_2020 JY_OC_HX Thanks for the link for the Raven Manuel pal it is a case I liked for functionality but I think that I may have to change the motherboard to fit into a smaller case ak_2020 again cheers for the heads up about the RAVEN. Booti No I don’t have to have a full size motherboard, I posted it as I was going for a pre overclocked bundle. I actually want a micro atx (?) I want a smaller board for a smaller case I have been looking! I looked at other posts and builds and need to add up hoe many ports I need compared to size but any recommendations would be welcome. As far as a soundcard goes? No mate it’s all media for IPod IPhone etc no music production! Cheers again keep em coming Look I know it must be frustrating as I am sure that you have answered the same questions in 100 other posts but cheers to ya all
Ok, based on all the sound input that has been provided I have come up with this I have checked the case for motherboard size, CPU cooler and graphics card size and I hope that it all fits. Work in london mate. Been to yoyo tech very helpful but they dont have all the products pal i.e fan so will do both..... Dont fancy humping the case around tho
Looks like a good set of components... let us know how the build goes. Be interested to know how quickly you fill up 4Tb of disk space...
Everythng is here bar the CPU Cooler and assessembeled I Think! I have a few questions tho! will check the rest of the forum first tho, mainly wiring and such... bought a few extra bits and changed a few other will get some pics
Mate, just make sure you spend a couple of ours having a good read of the mobo and case instructions prior to connecting everything together. One you get your head around them its pretty straight forwards. It also prevents any c*ck ups when you power the thing up. I always find connecting the front header connectors the hardest part but luckily Asus provide a unit which enable you to do it as a block away from the mobo then connect then as one. Also remember your order of installation for software which I believe should be 1) Chipset drivers 2) Legacy/ Audio drivers 3) Gpu drivers With a restart after each (although I am happy to stand corrected on this).
On win 7 you can install all at once doesn't make alot of dif as alot installs itself. Make sure all wires are connected easy to miss wires 8pin CPU power wire pc will boot but nothing comes on Gpu wires 4 or 6 pin Front case wires so easy to get wrong as they are so fiddly Asus make some decent sound cards at very good prices If your a music person onboard sound is rubbish for the rest of the world it's good
Having a mare! All connected up and try to power up but nothing! There is a green light on the mobo and the psu and rear fan twitch but nothing! Gonna check all the connections and stuff is seated right but its not looking good
Aye, check all connections first. Main ATX power cable, the 8 pin cable, pci-e power cables. Check memory and GPU seated correctly (and the switch on the PSU is set to on ). After that check the HSF is on right. Edit: Just had a quick look at the manual. Are your RAMs in A2 and B2? If you still have a problem try with 1 stick of RAM.
Ta mate had to pop out but will do it as soon as i get back.... Think it may be graphics card eerrrrggggghhhhh! Ta again
Addin. Ta for ur advice mate u am taking it all out and trying again. So i can isolate the problem... What is the minimum u can run on? I.e no graphics card? Optical or hard drive? I am gonna take some pics step by step just so i can show what im doing.... Ta
... ok here was the problem! The Antec 650 PSU comes with a a string of 3 molex connectors and a last 4 pin connector... After reading the manual apparently I could use the molex connectors for case fans and then use the last 4 pin connector to attrach it to the chases fan connector on the case. This would then regulate the power to the fans to help regulate air flow.... I dont know where I got this idea from but it didnt! and i could not pwer up with the 4 pin conector attached We are up and running and installing windows as we speak! Thanks again to everyone for their help.... Lankius Maximus cheers for the 20 minute phone conversation!
I dont think so mate as it it was the wron gtype of connector. Here are a few pics of them, 1 the 4 din connector and the molex series and 2 the 4 pin and the CPU chasis fan connector Again I have so many manuals and stuff kicking around at the mo I can remember where I read about connecting it this way! OK new CPU cooler has arrived so on to that! BTW - Is it me or are the stock intel coolers really freekin LOUD
