Hi there I am thinking of buying a new graphics card to boost my performance a bit until I buy the parts for a new system, the pc is fairly old now as I first put it together over 3 and a half years ago, the cpu is a q6600 running 3.2ghz, 4gb ddr2 and my main gfx is an evga gtx 260 216 ssc with 8800gt as phsyx.

I would really like to buy a gtx 570 but I've been told that my cpu will bottleneck it heavily (which I can understand) but would I still get a performance increase over the 260 or 260 SLI as I am considering buying a second hand 1 just until I get me new parts. many thanks

Do you have an Sli board?
Probally the best thing to do is to sell both cards and buy a 560 GTX for 190 pounds.
    Also a 570 won't be a huge bottle neck.
What res are you playing at?
You should get 65-70 for the 260 and 35 for the 8800GT leaving you at about 100 pounds for your new card.

Personally, If I was in this position I would probably go for the GTX 560. Whilst there won't be a huge bottleneck with a GTX 570, it would be a bit of a waste. Assuming that you are not gaming above 1920 x 1200, the 560 would probably be more appropriate and definately better value.

    Agreed.

No point getting a 560 if you just need a card to tied you over until a new build.

If you're planning on the November wait, then you'd be in a good position to start fresh. Of course, if you want to carry over the card to your next build then you should look at the 560 or 6950.

oh if you are carrying over the cards to next build, Then i think if you want to go for really high end ill do a sli 560(maybe the overclocked versions or overclock it), then that will be best value for money and beat any single card, it will last you till directx12 and till the next generation nanometer tech comes out. Or if you want single card then 570, 580 is waste of money imo, price performance is not worth it.
