I made the front page of the local paper, in color no less! http://www.bellinghamherald.com/2011/03/09/1906782/wind-advisory-for-whatcom-county.html Of couse, they couldn't use any of the pics of me surfing the waves, or successfully punching through them on my way out, nooo, it had to be the one of me walking back in after I finally dumped it. Oh well, such is the nature of the news.
I followed the link in your post, and I admit I chuckled at the following comment under the article: What say you, Cthippo, what say you?
The wetsuit is your friend Actually, aside from my feet I was never really cold. I was also wearing a fleece under the coat and my PFD over it, all of which help keep me warm. The gear works. I say what's not obvious in the picture is that I'm standing on the bottom. That beach is really shallow and I knew there was a good chance I would be going for a swim, so I didn't go out very far. The reason I can get away with it is that I'm acutely aware of my limitations. I'm looking forward to building a surf kayak just for these kinds of conditions (and bigger )
good for you Now imagine seeing your broken-in-half kayak everywhere on TV and on the internet. That was my "I'm on the news!" experience
No gloves?! We sail in this, sooo much fun, partly as there's no one else to get in the way, and partly cos it's just us and the elements trying to beat each other. And then capsize and nature wins
This is a misunderstanding, I clearly see a man walking in the water with his Kayak on his shoulder. How brave he is T_T
thats almost as good as my being on you've been framed....ah yes far more bittechers have seen me than they realise, alas you shall never know!
