Looking for a nice (black) fan controller for my new build that will take care of at least 8 fans. What would you recommend?
I'm looking for some info on this as well any help would be appreciated guys, Black with as little on it as possible would be the best
http://specialtech.co.uk/spshop/customer/product.php?productid=13390 A far better controller, will take any fan you throw at it (pretty much)
I like Lamptron's but prefer and recommend the FC2 http://specialtech.co.uk/spshop/cus...-Fan-Controller-Black--FC0022H-pid-12234.html
Thanks guys, all good choices but I ended up going with the Scythe Kaze Master with the 4 controls. I am hoping I will be able to put splitters on each connection so as each one controls 2 fans! is this possible?
A lot depends on the wattage of fans. Which version of the Kaze Master is it and which fans are you going to use with it?
Iv not had any experience with running multiple fans from a splitter but I know that a Delta 120mm (crazy fan) blew my old fan controller. I remember finding reports of that fan pulling 45watts at max load but I cannot confirm this. If each channel can output 12v and you split that to 2 fans they will both get the full 12v... however, the amperage on that channel will be double. I'm no electritian but I think this would cause the controller to fail, sooner or later. I found this... regarding the Kaze Master. DC Input 5V or 12V (From PC Power Supply) Fan Adjustment Range 3.7V (±10%) ~ 12V (±10%) Fan Channel 4 Maximum Fan Ampere per Channel 1A per channel The 1A per channel could mean it would be a bad idea. Anyone else able to confirm this, as I'm not 100%
It is this one here from Scan http://www.scan.co.uk/products/scythe-kaze-master-525inch-fan-controller-black I have 4 Gentle Typhoons 1450 rpm that I plan to use on my Rads and a couple of Coolermaster 120" sickle flow 2000 rpm LED fans and two 120" Enermax T B Apollish 900 rpm fans. I am thinking of changing the fans that came with my Corsair 800D with those ones. I have not decided yet as I want to see how the original fans perform first, though I have not heard good things about them tbh
Hmmm it does not look too good for my idea then I will have to decide which of my fans need to be controlled so I will run a few tests and find out which are noisiest at higher settings and lower settings and take note of temps and move on from there. Thanks for the info
I'm pretty certain that you could run the 4 GT 1450s on 1 channel as they draw 0.049A but I'm not sure about the Coolermaster and Enermax fans. 4 x fan splitter cables http://specialtech.co.uk/spshop/customer/3-Pin-to-4-x-3-Pin-Fan-Y-Cables-cid-1965.html I use these and they're well made.
Sunbeam Rheobus Black, used one of these for a few years now, only one word to sum it up really ... Quality
The thing is, most fan controllers with over 4 channels are pretty uneccessary, assuming the 4 channels have decent power ratings. This is why I like the Lamptron controllers so much - they are really highly rated, so just put more fans on each channel - it's unlikely that all 8 fans (for instance) need individual control. I have a Lamptron Touch, and use one channel each for each bottom fan, as one is under the HDDs, one under the GPU and one under the CPU. I also tie the top fan to the CPU fan, and the system works a treat, especially on auto mode. Plus if you're into watercooling, you can stick the pump onto the controller too due to the high power rating and keep the noise down when you're not doing much.
+1 for Lamptron controllers. I have a Lamptron FC2 and love it! Has plenty of power, real solid bit of kit. Good news on the option to split though Cus_, nice find on the fan details from Big Elf!
