If you paint something with UV-reactive paint on a transparant surface, like for example a window in a case, and you light it with a blacklight, will it have the same effect on both sides of the window? I mean, will it also be "glowing" at the other side of the window? Like, you have a window, with on the right side a UV-image. You put a UV-lightsource on the right side of the window, will the image be glowing at the left side of the window too?
I think that it depends on the paint. It might block the light going to the other side and prevent it from lighting up. With a thin layer it should be possible to get both sides to glow.
well it could work but I think only with color paint that reacts to uv... cause if you paint a design with transparent uv paint (like maxx paint) some of the light with still go through... that what's I've experienced at least with my clear fan painted with maxx paint.
It will show up on both sides, but it will be very faint. Since acrylic is designed for light to pass though it, not much shows up. Now if you did an etch, then painted it with UV paint that would like nice
okay, thanks all 'nother question maybe: does there exist "transparant" UV-reactive paint, that you totally can't see until some UV-light hits it?
well.... the only clear uv paint that i know and most people knows of is the Maxx paint from pctoys. but you'll be able to see something... it won't be totally invisible. but i doubt you can apply anything on the plexi that would be totally invisible... if you find something, post it here
Make sure you have the paint on the same side as the light because some windows block uv light..just so you dont sit there wondering why your paint doesnt glow.
I Painted the edge of an acrylic sheet with UV paint and when you light it with UV, it makes the whole edge glow all around (Like you were lighting it with a LED or something). When my PC is back up and running, I'll post a pic to show you what I mean.
He would get the same effect if he etched his design in the acrylic and then spryed it with the Neon Maxx paint. The etched part would show up nice while the rest of the window would be a faint glow.
yeah but what I think he's trying to do is making a design on his window that would be totally invisible until the uv light is on... but paint and nail varnish will show on the window... would like to see something like that tho
well the problem remains... even if it's clear... you'll be able to see it on the window... like water drops on the window... both are transparent but you can see both due to the edges... so if you put clear paint on the window, you'll see the edges of the paint... you'll be able to see a little something... but you sure should try. maybe it won't be very noticable...
