I have search long and hard for any information on this, but can't seem to find anything, hope someone can help me.

I bought a new PC recently with the MSi P55-SD50 motherboard.

Now it has OC Genie, I know this because I can see the actual chip on the mobo, however I have no oc genie button and can't find any option in the BIOS.

The only information I have found have been about pushing the button and/or enabling OC Genie in the BIOS.

Not sure if this is needed or not, but here is some mobo information -

Strange, the MSI website shows no record of this board. What bios options do you have for the genie?

    Absolutely none at all.

I have seen screenshots of people without the button itself but have enabled it in the BIOS but my BIOS doesn't have that option.

Yeh the first thing I checked was the MSi website and was shocked to see no sign of my mobo.

I have something called OC stepping but nothing mentioning the genie itself.

Forgive my lack of knowledge, not sure if it's OEM or not, it sounds like it is because I bought it from a shop already boxed.

The brand I believe is "UNITCOM"

Maybe it has functions that help with manual overcloking. TBH in my experience (of pressing the button four times) you can get a much higher overclock with much lower voltages if you do it manually. I'm using the MSI P55-GD65.

My cpu is an i7 870 and I'm a little wary of manual overclocking it.

manual is always the best way PERIOD

auto overclock features are either incredidably tame i.e. 5%-10% overclock or unstable.

It seems that this particular motherboard isn't supported by MSi at all, they send it to shops and then wash their hands of it.

Which is the reason it isn't listed anywhere on MSi websites and why there is little to zero information regarding this motherboard "P55-SD50"

I looked around for some safe OCing figures and have changed the CPU clock to 155, which takes my i7 870 to 3.7ghz.

If anyone knows of any better numbers regarding stable stock cooling for an i7 870 please reply.

Still annoying that I have an OC Genie chip that I can't access

manual overclocking is far better with lower voltages or higher clocks
