Thanks man! You just don't get this kind of consumer advice with Apple :thumb:

BTW, is there any info on prices and availability in the UK market yet? I might as well order one from a well reputed shop out there (any ideas on which? 'cause I have no idea...)

And, about the charger, is it a USB unit? I mean, can I safely buy a Transformer from the UK and plug it in here in Portugal with a different kind of USB charger?

Tomorrow is the UK/US announcement on prices.

There's a USB cable to charge it, and that plugs into a plug with a USB socket in the backside. I suppose that can be easily adapted for local sockets.

    Hi Bind,

What's going on with the launch on facebook?
    http://www.facebook.com/ASUSEee?sk=app_197846136904015&app_data=event

It gives a price and buy now but none of the locations have them in? Shame this launch has had a hiccup was going so smooth.

It says launched and has a price of facebook but none of the sites to order on have any in stock?

Looks good in that Swedish video, thanks Shark00n.
Shame he didn't have a keyboard.

Love the liquid live wallpaper! I hear the liquid level represents battery level :)

@Bindibadgi: 'There's a USB cable to charge it' - so is that USB on one end (for the wall plug adapter) and the 'Apple-like docking/charge connector' on the other? Or is it USB-USB for charging when docked into the keyboard?
If the former, how do you charge it when it's docked?

Could you see how the browser performs when you open many tabs, say 10+ please?

I was recently told (ie: not today) stock is 7-14 days away. Now is pre-order time. I'll check again if that's still the case. Reviews should be any time from 31st.

@mamoulian - USB to Apple like for both keyboard and tablet. Then there's a power plug adapter for USB to plug into.

I'll check the browser tomorrow if I have time.

And yea the liquid level is battery level. It's real funky, but honestly a bit of a novelty and because it uses CPU+GPU+gyro all the time it tends to burn battery a bit. Good to show off with :D

£379 is a fantastic price. I'd rather buy this over the Xoom that people keep raving about.

I'd like to know if the transformer is going to be locked down hard to prevent users customizing the Android build on the device or it'll be possibly to unlock the bootloader and gain root?

Thanks Bindi, I'm pretty convinced on this I'll just have to try it first next week before I put down the cash, great to get all this information and cannot wait for reviews.

    @Bindibadgi
Thanks a lot for all these answers. One think has not been talked about is the keyboard.

Do you know if the optional keyboard will be available later for the 32Gb version? Will it be available for all localization (French Belgium is mine) and will it be compatible with a device bought in the US?

It would be great if you could get those answers!

    Thanks in advance.

Hmmm, selling the Keyboard part seperately does take some of the fun out of it...

What? You have to buy the keyboard half seperately for the transformer?

Bindi, can you confirm the micro sd slot on the tablet itself will be enabled via a software update to allow additional storage (as per xoom). Makes the 16gb unit palatable over the 32gb storage wise if that is going to happen!

So it is, although it doesn't show up under a search for 'asus transformer', which is a bit rubbish.

Showing stock date of 18th for delivery on 19th, same as Amazon.

It also shows an RRP of £449.00, pretty sure Asus said the RRP was £429!

At those prices I see no reason to buy one over a dell duo, $549, unless you just have to have android and an SSD.

Completely different. The dell duo is a laptop that has a touch screen. The eee transformer is an Android tablet that happens to have a keyboard dock.
