Well, got some questions back at you:

#1: Do you plan to use any of the 5.25" slots? If not, why not cover it up entirely?
#2: What kind of brake are you using to make those pretty sharp bends?

-I just need 2 I guess: DVD and fancontroller...
The problem is that I won't be able to make it als nice as the drive covers...

-Brake? I just cut a 1mm gap into the 2mm plate, then clamped it to the workbench and a wooden plate and then pushed it to the right angle. To finish it of I smacked it with a rubber hammer :D Is that what you meant?

you can get an external DVD drive and you can integrate the fan controller into the side panel...

I would get an external DVD writer aswell. The few times I actually need to read from a DVD, I can live with that. The rest of the time, I enjoy having a lighter and not-so-tightly-packed PC sitting on my desk.

My point exactly. I personally prefer as clean a look as possible. Also I prefer not having a fan controller if possible so I use PWM.

So this is what comes to mind instead of using the stock drivebays:

Only problem I have is that it won't be sitting flush with the front...

You could cut it smaller and weld it to the front :D

It will, if you slap a matching piece of acrylic under there - and then you could sand the acrylic and mount lights along its sides, to make the entire piece glow through the holes of the perforated metal sheet.

Now that's an idea- If you could attach the mesh to another peice of mesh which fits just the right size use some JB Weld to attach the mesh to the panel and attach the panel like you attached the mesh there. Make sense?

I can't attach it to the front panel using JB-weld cause it should be two different colors in powdercoating, at least thats the plan...

And how to connect the mesh together? Using JB-weld would look awful my guess...

    I got screwed!!

Not really but I got my screws :D

    A bag of M4 and M3 100 each.

From left to right: M4, New M3, old M3

The new M3 screw got a more painted look and are deep-black while the older ones are more iron look: carbon-steel.

Also worked on the midplate. It was a pain in the ass to remove it because I had to brake almost everything down to remove it. Solution: shorten the midplate:

Today I also cut the 2 plates and drilled holes in them., They will be used to cover up the rest of the drivebays. One is not visible on the pictures because it couldn't fit: forgot to cut a piece:

And some try-outs to improve the camera-skills

Instead of welding the aluminum, you can braze it. Much easier to do and inexpensive.

    UPDATE: Back to work

Well vacation has started and so does the work on the case.
Lately I had lots of tasks and test to do in university but that is done (for this year).

First thing to do today is trying to finish the drivebay covers:

I don't got any pictures during the process because there won't be a lot to see...

Here is the almost finished product:

There are still some gaps but that will be resolved (hopefully) with the mounting construction.

    Back side:

If the weather allows it I'm gonna try and make the mounting construction for the cover.

Well the weather was like expected: 5 min sun and 5 min rain. Too much effort to put everything outside and then head back inside to shelter for the rain. So I thought of something else to do.

Like taking measurements for cutting when the weather allows it.

A few weeks ago I bought a box with boxes!!! Makes it easier for me to keep my screw all together without to much clutter laying around.

    What is this?

Well for starters I wanted to mount the 2 EK 480 Radiators that EK provided me. But I ran into a snag when mounting the radiator on one side. Some screws were sticking to far out and were blocking the radiator placement.

Easy fix: change to shorter screws:

    The 2 radiators are mounted:

I mounted a pair of Lian-Li 120mm fans to check for space. I couldn't find any screws with the correct length. (note to myself: buy new screws)

The reason why I do this is to check for space for the pump.
As you can see the EK DCP4.0 fits right in between. The second DCP should be placed in front or behind the other one. The MCP350 that I already have wouldn't fit there. Therefore the choice for 2 DDCP4.0.

Picture from above. Apparently the previous owner of the pump forgot 2 screws for the pump.

Then I mounted the side panel to see if the used screw weren't too long. It seems it fit so I'll leave it like that.

Test fitted the mesh to see how it would look in the end with the sidepanel white and mesh black.
    [IMG][IMG]

    Messing around with Macro mode:

Anyone have experience with the Sony HX9v? I am looking for a new camera which is compact and has high zoom.

Looks good, but don't you think that mesh will be obstructing airflow TOO much?
