I like the hexagonal feet. But whichever feet you choose, they can only enhance the epic. :)

Have to agree it's the X shaped one for me. you got me thinking about some thing along those line s for my build..Thanks for the idea...lol

It's all taking shape very nicely, could be a hat trick of MOTY's.

I vote X -feet, (wait, is there a vote?)
They give off a 'Space 1999' vibe, as does the skeleton frame.:D

Screw it- make them all & then just change them as the mood takes you ( make them screw on/off quickly via an embedded thread rather than needing bolting in from underneath ) :D

Thanks for the comments guys. :thumb: It looks like the 'X' wins the popularity contest hands down. :hehe:

Yep, you guys have hit the nail on the head. It does very much depend on the final 'look' of the shell. If it just stayed a 'frame' and looked very industrial and machine like, then the 'X' design will suit it well. But I'm guilty of having looked at this from a chassis only view point. In fact (without giving to much away) the shell will be nice and smooth with a satin finish, so it needs something smooth to go with that idea. I'm not overly concerned with repeating myself if it's only the case feet. But I still think that the round feet can be used in a novel way and I do think you will agree once I start to build the body. :)

The 'X' pads will be filed away for future use.

Last night my workmate Steve had enough time to make a pair of pads for the rear. The design looks simple but in fact took several hours and with many different permutations. These are larger in diameter and height, nice and chunky :D.

They will be further apart than the front pads and will also be back behind the chassis. The reason for this will become clear once body building starts.

I have some non work days coming up so the rear struts can be made then.
    Back soon. :)

so you like them equally or dislike them equally?

Personally I prefer the front feet to the rear ones, but I guess it will all have to be seen in the context of the final look, which to be fair Atilla has gotten spot on every time...

Outstanding work and you are courageous my friend 10hrs on a 1 inch aluminium plate that is more patience than i got. I would go with the X feet to follow the big X on the main board.

I'm sure the different styled feet will look sweet once it starts taking more shape as to what he has in mind :), I'm still puzzled how the heck did you cut the 25mm plate to basic shape, ah I've thought on & guess it must have been vice & hacksaw :D even just the cutting would have been a grueling task lol you Attila mate must just say what on earth are limits & just go & do things I find virtually inconceivable :D:thumb:.

    Truly amazing :jawdrop::rock::clap:.

I like the new feet better than any of the other versions. They look classy.

Thanks for the replies and comments everyone. :)

I had a few days off work so the last parts to be made from the really thick stuff were finished.
    These are the rear struts.

Here's a photo of the pads to give you an idea of the size difference.

The rear struts were made in two parts. I could make up all sorts of bulls**t stories why, but the truth is the design for a single part would not fit on the piece of 25 mm plate I had. :hehe:
As it turned out, I am glad things went this way. I'm pleased with the result.

Mounting holes were drilled and counter bored in the lower plate.

The pads were counter bored beneath and a M4 thread tapped into them. Then the screws were put in nice and tight. This will allow the pads to be adjustable.

    And everything mounted.

Then the lower plate was re-fitted to the chassis.

And I'm happy, at least. :hehe:

    EDIT

I just wasn't happy with the look of the front struts so the part was remade. This time with longer projections and room to shape the front. Also, the case was getting too long (front to back) so the spacers behind the fans were removed to reduce this length. I'm happy with this new design so things can progress further.
