    Setup -

    i7-930 O/C 3.8GHZ
    Gigabyte GA-X58-UD3R
    Corsair 6GB XM3 x3
    Corsair 650D Case
    Corsair H50

Currently I am looking to reduce the temps on my overclock. At present, my 3.8Ghz overclock is hovering around 78C load in prime.

The corsair H50 currently is using just the one fan, but I have been looking at a Noctua cooling solution. By replacing the H50 with the noctua nh-d14, I will then have the option to reinstall a fan on the back of the case.

    My idea is this -

Replace the top 200m fan with x2 Noctua NF-P14 FLX Fans
Replace front 200m fan with x1 Noctua NF-P14 FLX Fans
Replace stock corsair rear fan with x1 Noctua NF-P14 FLX Fan
Replace Corsair H50 cooler with noctua nh-d14 x1 fan
Install Zalman ZM-MFC1 plus fan controller

Would this be sufficiant enough to bring my temps to the mid 60s under load?

Sorry, I am new to overclocking and cooling and this is what I have come up with so far.

What's your intake exhaust like? I've read the H50 works better if you intake cool air over the radiator and then have another strategy to exhaust hot air from the case.

Well, the H50 Corsair fan is currently intaking cool air over the radiator, although not in a push/pull config. I want to swap out the 200m top fan into x2 Noctua 140mm to exhaust regardless. The case seems quite sufficiant but I think the stock fans are not that great.

Try a decent fan with the H50 first, it will be cheaper than replacing it. If you get a Gentle Typhoon 1450 and it doesn't make a difference, you can always sell the fan (they sell quickly).

If you're going to try a fan, I'd get the 1850 at the min, personally, if you're spending that kinda money, might aswell go for the 3000.
What kinda settings you got for your OC?
Those temps are pretty high for the clocks you're running.

then nh-d14 as you probably know is very good, but it really comes into its own if you use a massive amount of volts for your overclock i.e. over 1.35

edit: also it would probably reduce your temperature, possible by 5-10 degree, but don't quote me on that, also as I'm sure you already know, but just to reiterate just incase, it is MASSIVE! so make sure your case is deep enough, I have an antec 1200 (as you can see in the sig) and with my corsair ram I have to move the front fan up to clear the ram and it JUST clears the side window, probably by 1mm

Hi thought I would provide you with an update. I replaced the H50 with the Noctua and my temps are now hovering around 68C, so quite happy with that

Looking at replacing some of the case fans to see if I can drop it by a few more. Would be quite happy with 65C.

Why not watercool it yourself? For$120 you can make it nicer.

Erm, I'd avoid Noctua fans, they're quiet yes, but they are rubbish fans. Get Air Penetrators on the intakes, Gentle Typhoon 1850's on the exhausts, you'll see your temps drop :) What case are you using?

    i get max 60C when running Phenom 2 955 @ 4ghz with a H50 so im pretty satisfied..
but then again i keep my case panels off for cooler temps so im not sure what they would be like when closed... i thought it works pretty well when making all fans inside case blowing in and then H50 blowing out.. this builds up pressure and cools it down more ...... jus saying im no expert...
