(re Sphere) Is that the one mounted in the case? I've always been concerned it'd play havoc with stuff as it has an electrical field round it..

    Very nice, macroman.

The question's just been posed (again) over at the Ars Case & Cooling forum on possible EMI/RFI radiation from acrylic cases - any evidence from these two builds?

Like, is a TV in the vicinity affected any?

Oh jesus no! I held it for about 2 minutes once then touched my girlfriend and there was a spark just as I touched her.

You can feel the static from about an inch away with your hand! No way this is going near my PC dood!!!!!!

I have found no problem with emi/rfi or static in use. The case will charge up if rubbed with a cloth, but under normal circumstances the case is earthed via the mains lead and any static should be grounded. Likewise all the internal components are "grounded" together so a significant PD should not occur. Obviously care is needed in fitting the components beforhand. I have had static shocks from all metal cases before now! As a computer case it is not unreasonable to expect to be able to position the unit next to a monitor, if you couldn't it wouldn't be much use as a pc case. Obviously the radiation will be more from this case than a properly shielded all metal case but I have had not problems. I would be more concerned about mobile phone interference. :)

how much did it cost in total, to make just the case parts, none of the 'pc insides'?

I've had my case since Sept of last year and it is in the vicinity of 5 other machines in my office. I have yet to experience any monitor, speaker or mobile phone interference. My system runs 24/7 as a Windows 2000 server. I have a television set which is about 10 feet away from the office and that remains uneffected as well.

TBH Macro probably gets more than a fair share of mails about his mods, so if you post in here with any questions you have he will reply to them.. also that way everyone gets the benefit of any answers.

Please be patient, This was only a first part to his mods, he will release other parts too, so please dont email him as you may get ignored.

macroman likes to do a mod and then show you finished result, he then releases smaller articles explaining how many of the things done which is a totally different style to me, but hey! everyone is different right?

    So stay tuned for more...
