News OnLive to integrate with Atom-based TVs

OnLive has announced plans to integrate with Intel Atom-based TVs.

OMG all it needs to do then is to feed us water, oxygen and nourishment and we will be totally under its control. The end is nigh!

 

The only problem is that most people's internet is not up to snuff to give an enjoyable experience. Here at home it won't even run. At school, it's a little sporadic, and the picture is usually a little muddy. i think that the service is just a little ahead of its time.

 

The service is quite playable for me actually, and I live in Norway. Tiny bit of latency, but not so much that it ruins the experience, although it's not quite ready for FPS games yet. Needless to say, I'm impressed, I really didn't believe they could do it this good yet.

thats why it works - here in th UK broadband is a joke, speed is rubbish, traffic is shaped and ping is rubbish for avg joe.

 

in the UK, change to Virgin if you can. I've never had lag of any kind since moving to them.

 

With its BT tie up it'll probably be offered on there fibre setup which should be adequate.

 

this, its a nice concept, its just the internet connections are not yet enough to feed this kind of services for now

 

1. The joypad looks as ergonomic as a dead squirrel
2. Atom-powered telly?!

 

Am I the only one that sees this as a little bit pointless. If you want to game on the pc buy one. But on live seems to be quote console like, so buy a console instead. Hell most pc games are console ports anyway.

 

Except when their ports to LINX are congested/dropping packets.

And not to mention their policies on net neutrality which may one day see them asking you to pay more for that latency that you already have. I wouldn't recommend Virgin Media, as an ISP, to anybody.
