I'm not really sure but I think I can control the 2 fractal fans at the front but not the other. They're all plugged in the same way so I can't understand why I can only control 2.

so the exhaust fan on the back and the fan on the CPU you can't control?

If plugged into the right CPU fan header, the CPU fan should auto adjust fan speed based on the load/temps of the CPU. And the the dark rock is a very quiet cooler (AFAIK) so that shouldn't be what's making the noise.

You could start by turning down the speed of the fron fans then and see if that changes things, you'll decrease airflow into the case though.

Under my BIOS it's possible to change the CPU fan profile and then the chassis fans which umbrellas all the case fans.

I've had a play around with speedfan and I think I can also control the CPU fan. Which means that I can't control the Gentle Typhoon exhaust at the back and the Be Quiet! Silent Wings USC intake at the bottom. I've adjusted the 2 fans I can control down to 50% but is still fairly audible.

Edit: I'll have another hunt in the BIOS in a minute then!

Sounds to me like you have it in 'Turbo' mode so the fans would be at full speed.

If it's anything like mine you should have an option for 'Silent' operation.

Just had a quick read of the manual for your board, you can change the fan profile for the CPU and also those fans connected to the 'sysfan1' and 'sysfan2' headers. So that's the rear fan header and the other is just below the 24-pin motherboard power socket. I'd link the chasis Be Quiet fan to 'sysfan3' as it's quiet enough on full speed then link any front fan to the 'sysfan2'.

If nothing else works, do you have a gtx 570 with the stock cooler?

Might be that making the noise.

Thanks for your help! So connect the front 2 fractal fans to 1 + 2, the bottom intake Be Quiet to 3 and the Gentle Typhoon to 4? Sorry if I've got it wrong, the delivery man arrived rather early this morning :hehe:.

Edit: Wira yeah I have to the stock cooler but I was lead to believe they were fairly quiet?

Rear Scythe fan to the fan header labelled 'sysfan1' (far left on motherboard).

If you want control over the Be Quiet fan then put it on 'sysfan2'.

Then 'sysfan3' and 'sysfan4' will remain at full speed, so that'll be the two fractal fans.

I might install the fractal fan controller and just have the two fractals set at 50% at all times, as it's difficult to get to the back of my case to use the fan controller. I'll set it up as suggested tomorrow and let you know how I get on :thumb:.

Yeah it could be, most of the fans I've got are supposed to be fairly quiet so not sure what's going on!

It'll be the Scythe if it's on full speed. Just need to adjust the fan profile in BIOS and it'll be fine.

I've just had a look inside and it appears it is already set up as you suggested. I think the sound is coming from either the CPU cooler or the Gentle Typhoon. I can't set the typhoon lower than 50% in the bios. Any suggestions?

Not much of a difference, obviously isn't the culprit!

Just continue until all you're left with is the CPU fan!

What noise is it exactly that's bugging you?
