After a very productive couple of months (Folded over a million points worth of units in May!) I've decided to take another short but I believe well timed break from 24/7 folding. I have discovered whilst running my farm at full capacity over the past while that it is 1) Producing ridiculous amounts of heat, which means that it is 2) Using a lot of electricity. I wanted to push on to 10 Million (only a few more days folding shy of 9 million at the moment) but I've taken the decision to shut them all down for a while and do something about the ventilation and power infrastructure in the workshop which is where they run. I don't see the point in them all sitting doing nothing for long so I've decided to break down the most power hungry of the machines and sell most of it off as parts. When I do return to dedicated folding I want it to be a much more energy efficient effort, and this machine is the opposite of that - it makes use of about 90% of the power that a Corsair HX100W PSU has to offer when running at full tilt, and blows out air as warm as 26-27 degrees on a warm day. Don't get me wrong, the rig is rock solid stable and generates me almost 100K PPD on it's own, but there are better ways of getting 100K PPD than a noisy, hot, power hungry machine like this ;)

The parts are listed in the marketplace here along with some other items that I am selling.

Too late, been here for 6 years. Doing fine :thumb:

You'll notice that I said I am selling it as individual components - as a single machine running 3 dual chip graphics cards and a quad core hyperthreading enabled CPU, all of which are overclocked, running a total of 7 folding clients, it could well be the worlds most expensive and noisy fan heater. In a normal configuration though, any and all of these components are just really good kit :)

That's what I'm doing, but I don't want an 80-100K PPD capable rig sitting gathering dust whilst I sort it, plus as I've said I need to go more energy efficient anyway, so this one's moving on and I'm going to restart with newer machines built with better, more efficient hardware later in the year.

    And yeah, they're 295's ;)

No, just not as involved with the forums since the BT switch. Browse occasionally but rarely post.
