Ill see if I can model it up, sounds cool :thumb:

You don't really have to worry about poly count with SolidWorks as it runs OpenGL

Anyways here are some new renderings as I progress further into the design.

This has progressed a long way since the original designs. Amazing stuff :thumb:
I originally preferred the designs where the front panel was uncluttered with DVD drive cases and additional IO sockets, such as in rev 7. But the above render looks drool-worthy

That is impressive rendering! Now the challenge will be to build the real thing to look the same as the model: brushed aluminum and all...

I like the second one, I think the less cluttered design is more fitting with the original G5. I know you're not trying to copy it but the top one is rather 'bright' (Some people like it :) ) but the simpler but AWESOME front looks good!

Ps I love your designs, does Solidworks render those like that? Or is it a plugin/external renderer?

I like the second one better. It has a simplicity to the front panel without completely losing its more industrial look.

I like the second one better than the TRON like first it's maybe getting to common or something but shying off the look. I would love something like the one before those 2 renders but it's fans meshed off like this second one and the IO from this second one done across underneath the fan controllers?

Thanks! I am using SolidWorks 2011 which has its own built in render (PhotoView 360). Its an ok bit of software but if I had the money I would buy the full Modo rendering software in a heartbeat.

Thanks, I like the second one better too but I thought I would post the first one as well.

I do like the designs with the hex mesh ... but my heart belong to the one with the 2 fans :thumb:

The 120mm fans with MNPCTECH grill or the 2x 180mm fans with Hex mesh?

Edit: Ignore that, I read that wrong

I'll admit it looks good but it just reminds me too much of a "stock" case. Example: Lian-Li PC-9 series, Lian-Li PC-7 series, Cubitek Tank series, Silverstone FT01. Its a great layout but I feel like its to common. Besides, I must continue my crusade against 5-1/4" drive bays! :hehe:

    LMAO :hehe:

You have some great looking designs there! I use SolidWorks 2011 for modeling and Potoview 360 for rendering.

#2 looks like it would work the best. #1 looks good, but I can already hear the fans whooshing.
    -and keep the duck!:D

Quit rendering! You know it will never live up to your expectations like that.

I must say I'd love to see the Rev6 come alive from the first page, but from those three above, I'd choose this one:

Any updates to this? And can I ask, why on earth would you sit it up on feet without having your air intakes on the bottom and outtakes on the top? That way you can have a VERY subtle design (rather like the FT03, but less like a bin). What are you using to model this? If you lend me the 3D file I'll mock up what I mean. Haven't got the time to knock one up from scratch! (I've got Solidworks, 3DS Max and Sketchup.)
