I have the Thermaltake Armor A90 which has 4 USB 2.0 ports. But I'm upgrading to a motherboard which supports USB 3.0 (Asus P8Z68). Is there a way to change the ports? Here is a picture of one of the two double ports: Spoiler As you can see, it is fairly easy to remove the USB connectors. As I've seen on pictures of the USB 3.0 connectors, there are still the USB 2.0 connections. But how would I use the new USB 3.0 connections? I thought about buying one of those. Which leads me back to the question: Is there a way to upgrade the ports?
Are there a big diff? Like 4pin on the usb 2.0 and also 4pin on the 3.0, I'd try the old connectors with the new Mobo, and see what happens
I think USB 3 has got ~8 pins, plus there are many shields in the wiring. I'd try to find a usb 3.0 version of something like this: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/USB-PC-Back-Plate-2-USB-Ports-10-pin-Header-/270416692703 that way it's already all wired up for me, just got to hack it up a bit, otherwise order those USB 3.0 ports you linked above, and wire according to specifications: http://www.usb3.com/
Actually if you read the OP very carefully you will see that he has already found a source for USB 3.0 ports (I myself missed the link the first time I read his post). I'd say go for it St3ph. If your motherboard has USB 3.0 headers just double check the wiring and build your own cables to run the data up to your new ports. If you don't have USB 3.0 headers, then you might need to track down some USB 3.0 cables and pass the data from behind your motherboard to your front ports. EDIT: For those wondering why this post was from the dept of redundancy, I was tired and well... yeah.
Perhaps I need to stop checking the forums right before I go to bed, or right when I wake up EDIT: HA I SEE IT
