@Moyo2k (+ contributors) I just wanted to thank you for this list! I had been hovering between splurging on the Antec Truepower 750w or going for the more budget-realistic (but less-good) OCZ ModXstream 700w. This list brought the XFX Black Edition 750W to my attention and it seems to be a damn good PSU at a price I could (kinda) afford. (also, I found it on ebuyer for £83.. yay for Google Shopping!)
i have a 1050w aopen psu running my overclocked i7 and 2 ati5850's, its not a well known make, but it has never let me down
Shouldn't this be updated a bit? Seems a tad old, is Moyo2k still updating it and if not should someone not take over the reigns?
just been reading about psu's on here, can anyone tell me if AOPEN 1050watt psu's are any good? will i need to replace it for something higher quality?
tbh I'm not as regular as I use to be so if someone would like to take over im fine, scrap the thread and make a new one
What's the best PSU to pick up for ~£80. My system will be i5 2500k which will be overclocked and probably only 1 GPU, maybe a 5850 or 6950. Depending on what I can get.
Anyone had any experience with this PSU? http://www.scan.co.uk/products/750w-psu-alpine-alpine-750w-uncertified-quiet-fan-atx-v203 Seems a bit too good to be true for that price.
I dont agree too much with the list at the first post of this thread, why you think enermax is nearly always the best ?, enermax as far as I am aware offer only multiple +12 V. rails.
I would nominate the Corsair TX750 V2 for budget 701-800w category. It's £83 on Amazon UK at the moment. I just bought the XFX Black edition 750W from the list and absolutely love it. I would cetainly nominate the XFX 850w Black edition PSU for the budget 801-900w category- it's £95 on Amazon UK and is made by Seasonic (please correct me if I'm wrong). Take a look at this review among others, they're very positive.
I am sure if you look hard enough on Amazon you can find it at a far better price than 95. I have seen many items on my affiliate site marked way down from most other sites. Example my site has a listing for a Corsair CMPSU-850TX 850-Watt TX Series 80 Plus Certified Power Supply for as low as 119 canadian. Just have to do some searching.
not heard good things about OCZ PSUs but I definitely won't paint them all with the same brush, despite that tbh I think there are better 700W PSUs around that same price
its blown -up now lol!!!! lucky for me it didn't burnout anything else!!! got an xfx 850watt, 70a single rail psu now. so take it from me, don't be a skin-flint with your psu! cheers!!
sums up why the list exists, no point spending £600+ on your rig then trying to save on a PSU that will eventually murder it all
Thanks for this list of reccomended PSU's. I hope it is updated and if only i had stumbled upon this thread before i picked up my Coolmaster Xtremepower 500W lol
Be Quiet Straight Power E8 600W. Non-modular but easy to tidy and incredibly good looking and quiet. http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/Power+Supplies/650W+or+less/600W+Be+Quiet!+Straight+Power+BQT+E8+ATX2.3+Power+Supply+?productId=43580
What do you guys think about High Current Pro HCP-750 750W TX12V v2.3 / EPS12V v2.92 SLI Certified CrossFire Certified 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply. I'l be buying that in a couple of days to power up my Lightning Xtreme Edition GeForce GTX 580.
