hay i'm hoping you all can help me i have an asus M3A32-MVP Deluxe wifi/ap and have just purchased a sapphire 5850 extreme from overclockers uk no matter what i do i cant make them work together the computer boots (i think) but no picture is displayed i've discounted alot of things and have a 1000watt thermaltake psu ive removed all other devices removed ram & tried them in other sockets tried the card in other pcie16x sockets tried other sapphire 5850 cards no joy atall (bought 3 cards) i have updated to the latest bios i have also tried 3 different psu's all i can think is their is an incompatibity between the two i get a bios error code of 2 slow beeps followed by three quick beeps i should also say that when i plug in my 5770 all works well
what do you mean by together.. what do you have running in the slots? is it being used as a secondary card? if so plug the main in dvi and the 5850 as hdmi into the same monitor.. switch to dvi on your monitor and install all the drivers/sdk/ect for the 5850 in windows.. id your monitors before reboot and make display 1 your primary.. hope it helps
it's slang, like "playing nice with one another" no, it's being used as a primary card, as it stands i dont have anything in the other slots right now. i should also say it spins it's fan at maximum
Pretty sure that board is AMI BIOS so looked up beep codes real quick but there's nothing with 2 long, same for Award. Phoenix doesn't have long beeps. So in general with AMI/Award 1 long 3 short is video memory error. If the fan spins its getting (some) power, but the card might be bad considering the 5770 works... can you test that 5850 in any other machine instead?
A video error doesn't necessarily mean a "bad" card per say; any issue between the card and mobo could cause it, like say for example a messed up PCIE slot or even wrong PCIE settings in BIOS...
it could just be a compatability issue, or a mainboard issue, you did connect the extra power cable to the graphics card didnt you?
ofcourse, i did!!!! no matter, bought new motherboard, i do believe thats the problem, board is rock solid stable under memtest86 & 6 instances of pi, also running 24x7 bitcoin mining the stresses the graphics cards ergo pcie 16x lanes. JUST BAD LUCK I GUESS
i tried in bios forcing the pcir 16x slot to behave as a 8x and a 4x, even a 1x also changed the auto detect feature to detect 2.0 spec (altho card is 2.1) it was the newest version the board supported, also changed a few other settings. nothing worked
just a heads up, run a socks4 proxy in bitcoin.conf.. doing around 920mhash/sec on stock voltage here- heats up the place like crazy though
yep 3 different psu's a tagan 480 watt i know a lil under powerd but should atleast post a toughpower 500watt a toughpower1000watt
Hm, geez. Looks like you got the 5850 Voodoo Cursed Edition. BTW is there a BIOS update for your board?
i have this problem with my 460gtx sometimes, i usually take out my motherboards battery, leave it for 5 mins, then plug it in and it boots perfect.
LOL yeah i certainly have lots of scewars thru me!! yeah did that no joy doesn't matter sold the board now told the guy to stay away from the sapphire 5850, and he'll be set
im using the gigabyte 990fxa -ud3, works sweet with the sapphire 5850 got all three plugged in and working away their now rock solid stable
