Here's a new one. What's your favorite film score? Can be anything, even 10hours of the Inception BOOONG thing...

Anyway, mine? At least one of them is this:

Why? I find it stupidly relaxing, yet it has a big punch in the middle for a little oomph, remember playing this in a concert band. and getting to bellow out from the back of the band on a Trombone was a hell of a lot of fun. Plus I like the odd bit of 'classical' music.

    So Bit-Tech, what's yours?

Gotta agree that the Lord Of The Rings score was epic, as was the Tron Legacy one.

One from recent times that really stuck in my head though wasn't a score, more of well selected tracks to use. Watchmen, the soundtrack is so brilliantly put together it almost made up for the movie.

I'm big into movie scores. I've got around 80 in my collection and tend to listen to film and TV scores more than any other music since it's instrumental, is often great for going to sleep to, and is also often great for exercising to. But this is by far my favourite. Great movie, and absolutely fantastic score. This is the one album I have not tired of in 8 years. I have never been bored of it. Very personal thing I'm sure, but nevertheless, this is it for me. The whole album is awesome.

Fools, there is none better than what you are about to hear:

One of the most emotive scores ever, makes the hairs stand on end when you hear it.

Also, if you want a master-class in scoring a scene:

Star Wars has to be my favourite overall by quiet a margin
With this as one of my favourites within it:

John Williams use of brass, especially sharp trumpet sections are stunning in episodes 2/3

Howard Shore's Lord of the Rings trilogy is excellent and is probably my favourite. Also a huge Hans Zimmer fan. Gladiator, Inception, Pirates, Black Hawk Down, bits of the Lion King, Batman (collaborated with James Newton Howard on that one) just to name a few of his best...

Like specofdust, Soundtracks make up a huge portion of my music collection; Both from games and movies.
Picking out a single favourite would be impossible, since it varies with my mood; plus some of my favourites have been mentioned already, so I'll add on that hasn't been mentioned yet:

The entire Blade Runner soundtrack is just incredibly moody and atmospheric. Fantastic use of Synthesizers. It's worth getting the 3-CD version with Vangelis' other 'inspired by Blade Runner' tracks and the other tracks from the movie that weren't included in the original release of the OST.

Vangelis reminds me, Chariots of Fire also needs to be in this thread.
