    8RGA is with integrated video...

Asus would be my choice also. Or if money is an issue (barton... seems not ;)) check out the abit nf7-s rev1.2

The barton is £150 I couldnt refuse :jawdrop: .

But my argument for the epox would be the fact that because im building the system from scratch I could save on the video card for a while by running on the on board gf 4 mx and then get a radeon 9700 at a later date fot the AGP.

Are there any distinct advantages that either board have?

EDT: It doesnt appear to support the 333 mhz fsb that barton has!

    Damn what a decision

    Asus A7N8X
    Epox 8RDA
    ABIT NF7-S

Things is the things that pull me towards the epox more than anything are:

    onboard half decent graphics
it supports 400 MHZ FSB (unofficially)

A friend of mine has this board running @ 12.5x210 (1900Mhz) on an XP2100 Tbred, max CPU speed he got was 200x10 (2000Mhz), max FSB he got was 217Mhz into windows, 220Mhz refused to load windows.

He was using Abit NF7-S v1.2, 512Mb PC3200 TwinMOS @ cas 2522 (the tightest timings) with an XP2100+ Thoroughbred.

Pretty sure he's using an aircooling setup too :) (still running an SK6 ;) )

also, he is running 1.7V vCore there too (just checked with him :) )

woah now thats good. Now im lost!

Is it safe to say that, unless ur planning on getting the very best out of the setup, then really either of these 3 boards will perform at the top level?

    :)

I'm in a similar position, Choosing between Asus A7N8X, Epox 8RDA+ or AbitNF7S ver.1.2, Oh for a 3 sided coin.

The integrated Graphics are on the Asus Deluxe version also but adds about £20. Do you want Sata, firewire or an Spdif 5.1 output? Each board has a combination of these facilities.

For a rundown of reviews check out http://www.8dimensional.com/mainboard-reviews/index.html

Also www.8rdafaq.com has lots of info on the Epox.

These are all good boards, I don't think you can go wrong with any.

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/ Sell varoius versions of these boards, if you want Sata the Epox 8RDA 2 + is due out soon.

Epox 8RGA+ also has the VDD mod done as standard so it will hit 200fsb far more easily, the 8rda+ quite often needs a volt mod on the northbridge to reach 200fsb. The epox also has the soundstorm audio whereas the asus a7n8x doesn't unless you get the deluxe.

This is not an easy choice, and I think im gonna go with my original choice of the Epox 8RGA.

Im not going with Asus because of the BIOS trouble rumours. I am willing to pay for the extra onboard video epox includes aswell to tide me over! I was close to going with the ABIT board and I may yet change my mind but ....

If anyone has any info on the EPOX 8RGA - 2, then let me know as then there would be no doubts at all, epox it will be!!

If its not coming out for a while I may go with the ABIT board.

Just checkin but all these boards do support the BArton 2500+ right?

The MSI is a shocker from what I've been hearing, steer clear of it tbh :blah:

I've never liked epox after the problems I had with my 8KTA... I've never had a problem with abit, and I've ran (and still running) a KT7a-Raid for the past 25 months, overclocked... with very little downtime ;)
