    Hi,

Not sure if this was the best place to put it, but i had a look and thought that this would anger people less in here.

at all my posts need moderating before they are posted, presumably because i am new to the forums and people dont want to see pron, (well they do, just not here ;) ) and thats fine, i get that, we dont need another 4chan.

But my question is this, how many posts do i need to make before this is removed? I posted three posts and a new thread early tuesday morning/monday night and they have yet to appear? it just a lot of hassle.

    thanks!

You should be in the clear after about 5 [EDIT: sorry, 10] approved posts. Not sure why you aren't yet; I'll update your status manually. Sorry for the inconvenience...

Thing is, we get spam. Lots of spam. I mean, lots of spam. You can't see it because the automatic moderation hides it from you, but we can. It's all over the place. Every day we have to manually sift through several hundreds of new posts in the moderation queue and delete half of them. Only persistent offenders get banned anymore because there's just too many. It's a lot of work, and we all have full-time jobs (mine is nearly 50 hours a week, and I cannot access the forums from work except on my iPhone), so it takes a while to get to it. It is not ideal as the delay discourages new members from sticking with the forum, but it us the only way to keep it clean.

No worries; I know it aggravates a lot of new members and I thought you're owed an explanation. :)

Sorry to hijack, but since the OP's problem is resolved... I'm having the same problem. I've been waiting 2 days for my last post to be approved. I don't mean to whinge, but can anyone help?

Hi, I've got a couple of posts in moderation (build advice requests); any chance of getting them pushed through?

Trouble is that spam is easier to stamp out on Facebook et al. Here it runs rife, if users weren't moderated we would be up to our ears in spam again.

I don't get the issue, my first 10 posts or so had to be moderated, then after that all was good. Mods are doing a thankless task. Keep up the good work guys!

^ Too true, if it wasn't for the moderators these forums would be overun by adverts and bots posting up random garbage

According to Nexxo's post at #2 newbies posts are no longer moderated after five posts.

So far, my first five posts had to be approved by moderators and I was deeply disappointed when my sixth post needed approval. When can I freely post without the need for approval?

I seem to recall that anything with a link in it needs to be moderated if you have less than ten posts. Other than that I'm not sure...

    Hope this helps

5 posts and a mod might take pity on you - truth be known it auto-applies after 10 posts and a few hours for all the permissions to work themselves out... Usually. :)

Stick with it newbies - consider it a test of your resolve.

Have you guys thought of expanding the mod team? There are quite a few established members who spend a lot of time on the forums so you must be able to find a few trust worthy individuals?
