I found the drying time seemed to be about three times as long as normal. The end results are ok when it does eventually harden.

From the pics it looks like you've got a nice finish in the chassis. I might have to have a play with the copper stuff one day. I like the colour even if it doesn't look like the real thing.

Hm, strange - that's not my experience at all. With 3-4 layers of clear coat with sanding in between, you should be getting a good result.

On any other paint finish you would, but this stuff is a right bast*rd to work with and best left as it is.

Ok, I see - learned something there.

Does the same apply to any looks-like-metal spray paint?

Not really to sure, but with the plastikote stuff it does 100%. I think I found out the hard way as most people do with it. It can be polished up quite well though, but I would give it at least 2 weeks to harden.

Long week at work but it's the weekend now so I've been able to get on with a bit of modding. Been taking the opportunity to get the top coat sorted on the front fascia which is now done, as well as paint up a lot of the smaller brackets and things (which I won't bore you with.
They're also Harvesting in the fields around me at present so Dust is a real problem. So when I haven't been able to paint i've been chopping holes in things and cracking on with the other project I have underway at present which is Project F M J
Anyways a pic of the front of the case now that the final coat is on.

The doors are also finished, but unfortunately when I took the tape off it's left a slight residue on the copper. It's hardly visible, and won't be seen, but for me it's not good enough so I'm going to need to see what I can do with it before I show any pictures.

Today saw my first ever use of a hole saw. Man it's a scary bit of kit. Very prone to vibration, and there's just no way holding the job with the hand is going to work.

Still I learned a new set of skills, albeit at a very basic level.

I also learned to take the chuck key out of the drill press before turning it on.

Nearly winged me on the way past and took me a good 20 minutes to find the little git.

Disaster averted i've managed to cut 4 fan holes in the piece of roof acrylic.

I've actually got 2 pieces of acrylic, this is the lighter of the 2 and I figured as I probably want to use the darker i'd start with the lighter and make my mistakes there.

First thing was to make a mask of a 120mm fan.

    Like so.

    Then make 3 more

Work out the spacing and then glue them onto the piece of acrylic

    Then get everything clamped down.

    Getting everything lined up perfectly

The acrylic drills quite easily, but heck does it make a mess

    Last one to go

Then just the fan mounting holes. These were also countersunk.
