Hello all. Is the Asus P8P67 LE Rev3 ok for use with the 2500k for a good overclock? I am hoping it is just features that differ between this one and the deluxe, pro etc. thank you for your time
My only worry would be power phases. No idea how many its' got so it might not deliver power as well as some of the more expensive boards.
From the reviews I have been able to find, its not the best overclocker in the world. It seems to get extremely hot and some other stuff that I only half understand haha. The only review I could find: http://itshootout.com/r-353/asus-p8p67-le-motherboard-review/p/3/ Also if you search around the net there are a few topics about the board that seem to suggest its not the best overclocker out there. Such as this post: http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2138081
Afaik (unless Asus have updated the bios), it's also missing x amount of the bios tweaking capabilities that the better P8P67 boards have - making it more difficult to get a higher o/c...
The LE is the Light Edition (or effective naming) - therefore it's using less and/or cheaper features and as a consequence has fewer UEFI options too. You'll want the P8P67 (vanilla), Max IV Gene-Z or Pro (with DIGI+ VRM) to max out an OC
I also just purchased this board, not realising it wasn't a great overclocker, I am awaiting my Coolermaster 212 plus to come on Monday, I will definitely report back as to what my overclocking results are. If I can get anything extra I will be happy
Have the pro because it has the full DIGI+ VRM features the vanilla doesnt i dont think (maybe wrong) and my 2600k easy does 4.5Ghz on 1.32v. I reckon 4.8-5 is probably possible too.
You're goning to get 4.6 out of it anyways.Even more. The SB chips are allot less reliant on a good board as the socket 1156 or 775 chips were. Save the cash.
