I used to get this a lot when I was an IT Engineer. We did home user machines and we had a large number of 'My machine's running very slow' jobs. Some were viruses (a lot were infact, one machine had 25,000+ on it...) and the others were like those. This is why I go outside to smoke. Plus i don't want my flat to smell.

Once I found a massive house spider living in one! freaked me out massively, as I hate spiders. My boss had to evict it.

back when i used to service computers, the worst i can remember had a yellowish/orange case that used to be white or beige. had about 4cm of greasy dust and hair fluff caked all over the motherboard, cards and growing out the fan blowholes. and had a dead rat inside for the icing on the cake. there was also a 3" cd stuffed into the 3.25 floppy drive which is what prompted the service call.

:hehe: It's fake traffic, which advertising companies avoid ;) Plus Toms is one of the biggest tech sites out there, it's not like it needs it :p

Where's the view all button, Toms??

It's the sort of thing that can give a site a bad name, since all of those advertisers will be paying something per thousand times those ads load. Tom's may as well just put a repeating self-refresh function on the ads for good measure. :eyebrow:

Some of those are worthless entries! I wish I had kept pictures of the machines I repaired in an engravers this one time. Metallic dust gets everywhere. Far worse than any of those!

Have a look at a compressor suitable for airbrushing. My small compressor that I use for airbrushing is perfect for this purpose and I picked up an Air Tool set from Lidl last week for a tenner, which included various nozzles for blowing dust, as well as a tire inflator.

Those pictures made me go clean my air filters. I am now the proud owner of a ball of dust the size of my fingernail.

I used to work as a PC tech. the best solution for dust was a Black and Decker car tire pump and a vacuum cleaner. (need to have big hands)

Careful thought with the tire pump its quite strong!

Being serious, does dust have much effect, apart from fan air flow?

Dust = restricted or no air flow = heat build up.

Heat build up = computer slow downs and/or crashing.

Worst case scenario = fire hazard.

Simple as really. Keep em clean.

I'll have a look at mine at some point Sentinel-R1.

And judging by your name and location, you're at her majesties service?
