    Hear hear!

As a recent (well, 2 years recent, but it took some time before I was entirely comfortable with going sideways) inductee to the full time RWD brigade, I must say, I absolutely relish being able to go sideways with a simple enthusiastic prod of the right foot whenever the whim hits.

Nothing wrong with donuts if you like that sort of thing, but doing it when there's a crowd of people in close proximity is stupid, and the kind of behaviour that constantly gets car events banned or heavily clamped down by the police... or worse, gets someone injured.

So many car events at the Ace have been banned or cancelled because of this kind of behaviour :(

Not yet - I've only had it a month. I think I'll be doing some chassis mods first as it rolls far more than I was expecting, and I got quite a bit of brake fade on a relaxed lap of the Nurburgring!

Depending on your budget if you wanna splash out and you track it a lot I'd say tein suspension with ksport breaks, maybe an LSD as well.

If you are on a smaller budget bc racing suspension is great, I used them on my rx7. Also apexperformance.Co.UK do some great big brake kits

2000 Y-reg Toyota Corolla 1.4 GS (the facelifted model) - belongs to my mum but I drive it fairly frequently. Some details:
    • Power: Just under 100HP I think.
    • 0-60: Well, it reaches 60 in a reasonable amount of time. :p
    • Top speed: No idea, because the engine complains loudly above 80.
    • Mods: None - the insurance company would have a heart attack!
    • Reliability: Typical Japanese legend. Not a single breakdown in the 10 years that it's been in our family. :thumb:
Only real downside is that it's boring as hell to look at, but hey it's a car that I get to drive! :)

Doesn't sound like it has 100Hp to me, my car displays similar characteristics with a 1.4 petrol - it had a magnificent 59Hp - when new!

Power to weight ratio. Gearing too... if a car has tall gears, that will hurt acceleration times with only 100bhp to play with.

Well it should have a viscous LSD as standard - I bet it's operating as an open diff by now though! I will look into the price of a refurbed one perhaps.

My plan is to give it a brake fluid change and change the ARBs, see how I get on before I splash out. I do, however, LOVE how it drives so could see myself getting some coilovers in the future. If I need to upgrade the brakes I'll probably go for a 300ZX conversion as that's relatively cheap.

What's the spec of your S14? Doesn't sound standard at all in the video :D

You could always weld the the diff but it makes it s real dog for daily driving.

My s14 has had a lot of work

2.2 Hks stroker kit, so rods, pistons, crank etc

264 degree custom ground hks cams

Greddy intercooler with custom pipe work

Full stainless exhaust system custom made manifold back

    Stainless custom intake plenum

    Hks fuel rail 1000cc injectors

Some huge throttle body I stole off a v8

    Greddy td06 25g turbo 10cm housing

    OS giken gear box

    Tein drift coilovers

Cusco and nismo arms front and back

    Custom uprated steering rack

Removed air con and water pump, fitted an electric pump

Hks triple plate clutch, custom lightened and balanced fly wheel

    Custom prop shaft

    Nismo 2 way diff

    Bride bucket seats

    Arbs fitted

    Greddy profec b boost controller

    Apexi power fc

Uni demands pics of your engine work! NAO! :D

Sounds like a sweet build mate, I'm pretty much addicted to planning my "some time in the future/ASAP" GT-Four build at the moment, so hearing about 2.2 stroker kits, custom ground camshafts, intake plenums etc makes my ears perk up! :)

    <- :naughty:

My 2l Vectra (No doubt soon to be a taxi) Torque 320 Nm 235 lb-ft!.

My Vectra goes this Christmas so I'll be on the lookout for a new motor, not sure what to get next :worried:

    Short list....
    • Nissan Qashqai
    • Nissan Juke (These ugly ducklings really are starting to grow on me)
    • Mondeo :sigh:
    • Insignia (Very thirsty, would like the estate)
    • Audi A1
    • BMW 1 Coupe

Really after a fast little diesel, any suggestions?

BMW 123d M-Sport Coupe. I'm in awe and wonderment every day about just how hilarious a 2l diesel can be whilst still returning 44mpg (400Nm stock, or ~500Nm with a remap, if torque is your thing)

There's a Diesel Vaux Insignia here that's doing 50mpg with sensible driving. But it has 165bhp and tonnes of torque, so as soon as you put your foot down, you get instant power and the mpg drops to about 25 (realtime) and averages less than 40 :p

I definitely won't be welding the diff. I wonder if there are any cost-effective helical LSDs which can be made to fit and have the correct ratio?

Your engine sounds outrageous! I doubt I'll be doing anything that extreme. Maybe I'll pick up a cheap 2nd hand engine and rebuild it in my spare time. Have you had it on a rolling road?
