i have a 6790 with a small overclock playing on ultra well i have 2 6790's but dont thing BF3 Beta supports crossfire yet but i may be wrong and for £100 each im not complaining.

The rest of my setup is an AMD x4 980 oc'ed to 4Ghz on an asus crosshair 3 60Gb OCZ ssd sata3 but running sata2 with 8Gb of mushkin blackline running at around 1700Mhz

Don't think a £250 card will cut it, either get a GTX560Ti or 570 or Radeon 6950 or save up for a 580, best thing would be wait for Radeon 7000 series but then i dont think you'd want to wait longer

If you'd read the thread you'd know that my gtx 460 is cutting it on high @ 1920 x 1080, you dont need to spend over £150 to get good framerates on high plus, the game will most likely be slightly better optimised when it releases.

Edit: and the gtx 560Ti is less than £250.

just put my second evga 570 in this weekend in sli and the bloody card has crapped itself seems im not alone on this as there seems to be a batch that when run at 99 percent black screen and drops to the desktop. something to do with opencl. rma to scan me thinks.

Go with the best card you can possibly afford, I think the 570 would be the best bet at £250 budget.

My 580 can't run BF3 Beta at Ultra at my res, its definitely one hungry game!

This. The immortal 560Ti/570 question has three answers: whichever you can afford, whichever you need and whichever you want. In that order.

Can you afford both? Do you need the 570? Do you prefer the 570? Then get the 570.

Can you only afford the 560Ti? Can you afford both, but don't need the 570? Or do you just prefer the 560Ti for other reasons? Then get the 560Ti.

Everyone seems to be waiting for some gavel to fall determining which card is BETTER, but that's not going to happen. It depends on your budget and your needs.

    1. What res?
    2. the game is limited to high (even ultra) in the beta.
    3. If your struggling then somethings wrong because I certainly am not strugling with all high @ 1920 x 1080
(unless of course you run a much higher res :D)

anything higher than 1920x1200 your edge of screen will be cropped, unplayable.

as my excuse, this is why im not doing well in BF3 beta. everything is fuzzy since im not running at native resolution.

get 570. always buy the best architecture. end of the day, the actual GPU makes most difference, why settle for a lesser GPU at a marked up price when the world's fastest GPU architecture can be had for a little bit more?

Choices still have to made with budget and needs in mind, they are more important than chosing something faster, what would the use be in buying something thats more powerful than you need and eats up more budget than you can afford?

I'd just like to drop in and mention that my system (in sig) can run BF3 at Ultra settings at 1920x1080 perfectly fine. I reckon they were slightly over-blowing the system requirements a bit tbh. The 560 Ti is only OC'd to 900Mhz core/2100Mhz memory.

    Ultra is capped @ high.
If you select ultra you are literally playing using the high preset.
As iv'e stated numerous times, an oc'd GTX460 is enough to run this game on the high preset with 2xAA @ 1920x1080. My clocks are 840/1680/2190 and my I5 is OC'd on Turbo boost to 40 multiplier.

I was surprised that my GTX 460 SLI wiped the floor with the Battlefield 3 Beta. It can play with everything on high at a resolution of 2560 by 1440! The graphics are absolutely gorgeous at this preset, I'm looking forward to what Ultra offers in the full game! :D

I honestly thought that I'd be lmt to med settings or possibly high but at a lower res, just goes to show that the gtx 460 still has a fair bit of life left in it yet :D

i would imagine hd6870 would be good enough, as my hd5870 2GB is running the beta, with no problems at all
