Hey guys, since my last post here I have put together my new rig and have been playing the BF3 beta and loving it! Now I have a taste of what the game is like, I have decided I would like to invest in a triple monitor setup and now have a couple of questions, here are my current spec; i7-2600k @ 4.2Ghz Be Quiet Dark Rock Advanced GTX 560 Ti Zotac Amp! 8GB XMS3 12800-1600 P67A-GD53 OCZ Vertex 3 120GB Coolermaster 600W Silent Pro BenQ G2220HD 21.5" Being happy with what I have right now I am considering buying a couple more BenQ G2220HD seen as though they are cheap as chips. Realistically am I going to be able to run a triple monitor setup with a GTX 560 Ti? I have my doubts but has anyone else managed it? Failing that, (which I assume it will!) would another GTX 560 Ti in SLI cut the mustard with a triple monitor setup? Alternatively I have seen setups with two smaller screens either side of the middle monitor running at lower resolutions so I assume this would be less demanding on the GPU, would this work well with FPS games? Could anyone recommend a set of smaller screens, any any particular size? On a side note, would my 600W be capable of SLI? Cheers.
Last time I dug through my bit mental box of bits; I specced up that it'd take, like, 2.5GB 570's to be able to manage BF3 on mostly-high settings with Three 1080P screens. That kind of a machine would suck down about 850 watts. Tl;Dr: No. Two 560's won't manage it. two 570s would likely struggle, and any cards powerful enough to manage it would devour your 600watt PSU alive.
a 560ti would not be able to max out bf3 with a single monitor set up at 1080p imo. it would most likely achieve around 30fps, if you are fine with that. it def wouldnt run another two monitors. if you were considering running 3 (which obviously you werent at the point when you purchased your card, so that isnt your fault) then i would have gone with a gtx 580 or higher imo a 3 monitor setup for bf3 at max would require sli 580's for respectable rates
Looks like I'm stuck with this setup for a while then, at least until the top end GPUs come down in price, I can't justify the extra cost of two 570/580s on top of the monitors, that is unless I can get most of my cash back on current GFU on ebay :O As for BF running at Ultra/High settings with the single GTX 560 Ti I haven't noticed any terrible drop in framerates.
I have 6970 xfire and had to drop the settings from ultra to high to play bf3 at 5760x1080 and got around 50 fps
