Of course, if you press the wrong button to turn it on, poison darts shoot out of the front, and then a huge boulder rolls from the drive cage and flattens you. :D

Great work. I love the way you have managed to maintain really credible Aztec patterns throughout.

Does it come with a monkey brain sorbet ?

I second Nexxo ... everything looks as a whole and not as several mayan stuffs placed here and there. This could ba an old, lost, mayan artifact (still looking for the crystal skull).

    Simply stunning and jaw dropping.

You have some real skill in carving all this.

Well done and I will keep a eye on this for the finished result.

You should be extremely proud of what you have done so far.

    Really, really awesome work!!

I haven't used balsa foam like that, but I know prop makers that sculpt with foam and then coat it in resin to harden/strengthen it.
If your painting doesn't work the way you want it to, you might give that a try.

Wow, thanks for all the response guys!

    Thanks Ian,
Although the foam is rather delicate versus a sharp hit or a sharp object, it seems pretty sturdy on it's own. A little paint on it will keep it from flaking away. Any more and I run the risk of losing details.

I honestly would have liked to experiment more with this medium, but I was on a time constraint so I had to jump right in and start carving.

I've found several products of late that I will experiment with if I use this stuff again. I want more durability in a future build for sure.

    Nah, It lacks detail!

I can't understand how you can spend that amount of time on the details! But I applaude you for it!

I think the word I'm looking for is "Amazing" :thumb:

REally cool piece of work you've done!

Surely there must be a way of curing the foam without losing the details... someone start googling!!

Great job, cant wait to see the end results and obviouslt the progress shots :D

    http://www.sculpt.com/catalog_98/CoatingMaterials/Envirotex.htm

I found this as a recommended hardening/strengthening medium, but then it becomes glossy.
Oh yeah, and it's over $110 here in the U.S. YIKES!

I've seen other things like a wood stabilizer (for rotting woods). They all might be viable. I'm looking into it.

p.s. and if anyone wants to get into the stuff as well, I just found this article (kinda wish I'd found it months ago, lol)

This is some amazing artwork, truely amazing! This is something i would never have the patience for, i see myself going nuts around halfway engraving the aztec calendar and breaking it all to pieces while pulling my hair out knowing i have a deadline to meet. You sir, have took up quite a project in a short lapse of time, and put out some awesome work regardless. In one word: Respect.
