While I wait for all my parts to arrive for Bulldozer, I thought I would whip out a quick 2 week (or less) mod. I want to build a Treasure Chest PC for the store where I work in time for Halloween!

I saw this cool looking chest on eBay and knew it was a winner. It's actually used for Wine bottles.

I knew even from the auction photo that these would be perfect for 80mm fans

    And I was right...

I want the computer parts to be separated from the "treasure" by plexi glass

    Like so

Nothing says pirate like skull fan grills. Problem is that these are acrylic and doesn't exactly fit the weathered treasure look, so I painted them black

And started putting them in with Red LED fans

I'm using a 300 watt Micro PSU, because it's all I have that even fits. I put this bracket in to hold it in place

Here's it with the motherboard installed too. I'm using a socket 775 Pentium D 3.8GHz and an Asus board. The chip is only a single core, but at 3.8GHz it gets extremely HOT!

The rear turned out well too

if you wanted it to be cooler you could see if something like a mini ninja would fit on that cpu
also dont forget to install some ventalation holes in the rear of the case to let the hot air escape

Or very impatient and instead of waiting for parts, just starts a new project in the down time :D

    That too.

I got the system booted up. I'm one intake fan short right now, but it is on order

I'm using an old socket 775 single core Pentium with a 3.8GHz clock speed. I got this chip on ebay for $28

Next comes my pot of Gold chocolate coins!

Man, you beat me to the punch lol. I have some odd fascination for boxes. I collect them in all sizes, don't know why. So I always wanted to put a PC in one, just like yours. So make me proud bro, make me proud! ;)

There will be glass separating the chocolate from the inyards. It will be sealed around the edges so if chocolate does melt it will not be able to get into the components

My last fan arrived, so I put it in!

Then my crappy Asus motherboard died. Even though it's 775, it's actually only 10 months old. Well, it does say Asus and they make nothing but garbage these days so it's expected. Instead, I added a jumper to the main power line so all the fans would just kick on without the Mobo

Anyway, I added a some silicone around the glass edge

And then I dropped in the Gold!!

Do you have something to keep the coins cold so it doesn't melt all over the place? I know you sealed the computer section.

And how are you supposed to get to the computer section if you sealed it already?! :eeek:

There's 4 intake fans, the PSU has it's own exhaust and the motherboard/cpu aren't actually running....so I don't see a heat source to make them melt.

By the time I'm done displaying it for Halloween, I'll just break the glass!

Also.. that's a awesome CPU right there.. 3.8 GHz? dang.. is that overclocked?!
