is poretty much how they make most metal parts these days...3d modelling straight to a CNC. CAM. Lazer etching is pretty cool. Still love seeing these things working.
I was a mechanical design engineer for a number of years :)
But ye...if you havent seen before...its all pretty cool :)

So pretty :) The laser etching is funky to watch and makes pretty noises :0 I wish there were more videos like this as I love seeing this stuff...

Check out the making of a CPU from bare silicon if you ever find a vid.
    Amazing stuff.

Used to work in a Fab myself and it was constantly fascinating how the machines worked.
Pestered engineers to learn about the machines around me.

What's most amazing for me is how the cutting bits seem to go through that copper like butter. It moves the plate and it seems to just vanish. Makes you wonder just how much torque that bit must have behind it to pull that feat off.

I do a bit of lathe/milling work and copper is a easy cutting metal, now steel is a whole different story. Any small milling machine with a 150+ watt motor will cut copper/brass with ease and the right tool speed.

I actually used to program vertical machining centre's a few years back, bit different from that one tho as they were for furniture manufacture so alot bigger tolerences and different feeds and speeds.
