It looks like a Sony Optiarc AD-7690H Slimline DVDRW (SATA) to me. In a custom modded bay that is. Nicely executed mord!

Glad bt ran the modding forum article. Nice build indeed. Glad you changed out the cpu block for the sake of the tube alignment, though I do like those Apogee blocks. Ready for more here when you are :D sub'd

Saw it on the BT frontpage, and I had to look. Awesome and clean build dude, just love it!

My hands are itching now to build something new since my last WC build was in 2001. It is still running with some processor and motherboard upgrades along the way as my main gaming rig.

It is fairly easy to get this drive. It is not very cheap but you should be easy to find. I am from portugal so telling you my suplier won't do you much good unless you want to ship overseas.

As for the rest of the coments i can't thank enough.

The recognition of my fellow modders is something that really warms my heart.

So without further delay here is the much delayed update.

    [Lots of pics warning]

I think it turned out ok. You'd be the judge

Having done the internals it's time to prepare the outside panels.

Front bezel modded to insert the disk in the slotin dvd. Out comes the Dremel:D

Looks pretty straight to me. :)

    Side Panel Done.

Global Pic. The acrilic is aligned with the metal so that they sit flush. Held together by dualside tape.

Now in the case. I know there are some reflections but i found the photo interesting.

At this point i had a long hard look at the build and i felt relieved.

It isn't quite done, and i still have a few surprises up my sleeve, but my vision is done.

So i decided that this deserved some quality photos and i went outside with nice natural light and the results were very satisfactory. (I struggled with proper ilumination through out the entire build) The difference is astonishing.

I'll let you be the judge of the work done (My second build of a WC system).

Bear in mind that this is NOT a finished product.

I still have to powerdcoat the EK retention plate for the GTX580 (so that the look matchs the lian li aero slots), finish the newest version of the backplate with more intricate work than shown before, a few screws , clean the entire system to remove smudges and fingerprints and of course this just couldn't do without a final surprise :)

I hope you enjoy it, as much as I enjoyed building it.

This last photo does not imply any sponsorship. Just liked the phrase.

See you very soon for the completion of the build!

    Cheers
