To what levels do these a..holes go to next. Apparent mail scam doing the rounds - maybe worth taking note with Christmas on the way? Postal Scam: Can you circulate this around especially as Xmas is fast approaching - it has been confirmed by Royal Mail. The Trading Standards Office are making people aware of the following scam: A card is posted through your door from a company called PDS (Parcel Delivery Service) suggesting that they were unable to deliver a parcel and that you need to contact them on 0906 6611911 (a Premium rate number). DO NOT call this number, as this is a mail scam originating from Belize . If you call the number and you start to hear a recorded message you will already have been billed £315 for the phone call. If you do receive a card with these details, then please contact Royal Mail Fraud on 020 7239 6655 or 020 7239 6655 . For more information, see the Crime Stoppers website: http://www.crimestoppers-uk.org/crime-prevention/helping-prevent-crime/scams/postal-delivery-scam
Though if you click through to the link you provided, it says this scam has been stopped in 2005, so either something similar making the rounds, or its a double hoax! Inception style!
Surely this should be under 'LOL'? I would immediately dial that number on as many phones as I can, to see how much I can rack up; but knowing the proceeds probably go terrorism or something equally bad - I'll restrain myself. It is funny that people actually fall for this stuff though; modern day natural selection?
Please feel free to correct me, but I'm sure years ago BT confirmed that it was no longer possible to scam someone for more than a few pounds on these bogus premium rate lines.
Yes... it's a hoax, I know your intentions were honest, but all you've done is continue the spammage http://www.crimestoppers-uk.org/fra...m-email-from-parcel-delivery-service-65455465 -1
It's a hoax (I know you had good intentions), the maximum possible call cost per minute by BT is £1.50. Closing this thread to prevent any more spammage.
