Hey guys, more sleeving coming! today I'm dealing with the 24-pin cable wiring and sleeving, the work doesn't need a lot of ecplanation, it's pretty much some pretty picture I had a chanche to take with my neighbour's impressive Canon30D :thumb:

by the way, thanks Pietro :D

it's a 0.8mm² wire, resistance should be around 0.020 ohm/m (but i dont really care since the extensions are very short) and max current something near 5 A per wire.

Voltages are obviously -12 to 12 V of the 24pin connector

I checked better in the AWG spec list and found out it should be something very close to 18AWG

someone think i'd better go for 16AWG? I personally think it would be a little too overkill, but... hey I'm here to learn :D

    (sorry for double post)

update 20 - first system test (list of all updates)

    Hey guys! I'm back!

Been a while since the last update, but I've been relly busy with some exam and i only had some spare days now during holidays for new updates!

Today I've made the firts test with the system inside the case. The work is far from being completed but this will be a good point to start new updates!

I started transfering the old system from it's original case

    to the new tray

in place! standoffs were absolutely perfect (surprisingly enough)

then i tapped some holes for the pci support rails

and put it all back in the case

    testing cables, psu and usb

and finally booted from the new case!

from the first tests I can tell that:

    • noise is reduced to a whisper! With all fans on 5V the system is absolutely inaudible!
    • default-CPU peak tempreature didnt change
    • default-GPU peak teperature dropped a little, not much trough
    • OC-CPU peak temperature has dropped by 3°C approx.
    • OC-GPU peak temperature has dropped by 8°C approx.

they look naughty, but the project is all about efficient air cooling so I don't think those would fit very well :p

I hope these pins will stay if you pull too hard. I had hard times succeeding with that when I tried.
