even if I add the cost of 64gig iphone 4s split over 24 months on top of my pay as you go it works out to be 45 quid a month tops.

Also zoon I don't know where you see 75 quid iphone tariffs???? When I had a blackberry I got blackberry internet service for free and a metric crapton of texts and calls for something like 15 quid a month?

 

I'd also question how it's possible to pay such an amount for a phone tariff, especially in the US where tech is generally cheaper. I pay £35/month for my SGSII, which nets me 2000 mins, 5000 texts and unlimited (properly, not O2 where they traffic manage you after 750MB, or Vodafone, where 500MB is "unlimited") data, and didn't pay anything up front. This equates to $47/month when 20% VAT is removed, so factoring in around 8% sales tax is still $50/month...

 

Something I discovered last year and still don't understand is why, OH WHY you get charged for receiving calls in the US (unless I'm mistaken of course).

I think as has been said Family plans are more common in the US, where you pay for several phones under one tarriff, so that will skew figures as it is a median not a mode

 

well on verizon $59.99 [£38.35] a month gets you a mere 900 minutes no texts and no web access [they're both extra]... so $100+ a month doesn't sound out of the question... oh and you have to cost of the phone on top of that... AT&T looks to be about the same [they're the only two US networks i can think of]
