    Actually, that's a good point.

I don't think they'd actually work with the non 448's in SLi would they (irrespective of the cost) what with them having different core counts and different GPUs (GF114 and 110).

bummer, I'm sitting with my 5850 right now, considering whether I should upgrade or hang out for the next gen, I think if I upgrade now I could sell the 5850 and still get maybe 80-100$ for it which would be cash towards the next card...

but the current gen is old and the next gen is still waiting and there's no gauruntee the next gen will be at a good price/performance

Adidan: HardwareHeaven confirmed it, no SLI with older 560 Ti's, youve got to pair them up like for like.

Aye, I thought as much. I shall be slightly smug for being right even though I was right about something obvious. :)

I don't see what the beef with this card is if it on the whole is slightly cheaper than the 570. It seems to have done better than the 570 in the review and you get that little extra memory over the 560ti whilst retaining the memory speeds, unlike if you buy a 2gb 560ti.

The only uncertainty is whether you can get a 570 cheaper or if there is a 6XX or 7XXX on the horizon.

    Yes.
This year is strange, I'd have expected new cards to arrive before Christmas (right about now).
Is there an approximate due date? Before CeBit?

There's talk of both 7series and kepler information coming out in December, what cards actually materialise then is up in the air really.

£185 would make it absolutely perfect! However US prices rarely directly translate to UK prices, we have ridiculously high VAT while they don't have to pay VAT at all due to some loophole.

True. The thing is I think at an opening gambit of 185-200 they would shift a hell of a lot of units.

True, but then they wouldn't shift as much old stock 570's would they? :hehe:

No and their obvious ploy worked and made me buy a 570.

A sucker for basic psychological ploys am I.

    TBH I didn't need much of a push. :D

All these comments and no-one pointing out the obvious?
Why the fukc is this called a 560Ti, when it's not the same card as all the other 560Ti's? I could understand calling it the 560GT, or maybe the 565, but why re-use the name of a current card, in a different price bracket?
    Seriously nVidia, sort it out.

...I'm probably building come January (bad timing, I know) So fling some new stuff onto the market (so that the 570 may finally go down in price) :D

That was actually my insinuation - if it doesn't SLi with an existing 114 card, then it's not a 560ti. I'd have gone with something along the lines of GTX 565ti or perhaps more accurately a GT 570 (as opposed to the GTX570) which is cut from the same base design.

Calling it the same thing but with some numbers on the end is indeed confusing, more so than the GTX 260 midrun change.

so...+1 for nvidia sorting it out, retailers may find some unintended returns because someone less knowledgeable may buy a 2nd 560ti (maybe for a present for someone, buying a premium priced one for chrimbo thinking they are doing a nice thing) & end up innocently with an inappropriate product.

But then people will remember the 465 or whatever it was that was a complete disaster and not buy it.

And there is already a 560... so I don't think it's too bad. As the numbers state the difference. I'd take more note of 448 than TI GTX. In fact, I would have assumed the original Ti was a Ti GTX. At least the numbers got me thinking. Further, if it hadn't said 448 Core in the review I wouldn't have read it, as it's old news.

I still think the problem is knowing what's on the horizon at the moment. If this card sits in between the 560 and 570, that's fair enough. I just don't want to see a 660 tearing it's pants off for the same price in 1 months time.

Trouble is, according to the Scan guys, the 570 will be phased out and it will be the 560Ti 448 and then the 580 with nothing in between.

Which makes sense if the 6XX is out soon. Get rid of sub par 570s. Only the best mid range, the 560 and the top of the current generation, the 580 stay, which would be more likely to be bought time and time again.

Still, it's a bit shoddy. As long as they don't price them the same, I'm not bothered. I'm just waiting for the new.
