I want to know if I stuck a GTX-560 TI in my sons rig would it run Skyrim on decent settings. He has a Samsung 24" Full HD monitor as well as a Samsung 32" LCD Full HD-TV that has PC Input. I am thinking ok for the 24" but a big no-no for the 32" TV! Any advice welcome, thanks Cus
It wouldn't matter as if both screens are full HD then they will have the same resolution (1920 x 1080). One thing I would say is if you use the TV as the screen then use HDMI as the TV's VGA input may not support the TV's native resolution.
Its all about resolution. Your GPU has no idea how physically big the TV is. The resolution is the same on both... 1920x1080.
A 560Ti would play Skyrim pretty well at 1080p -everything on high, if not v.high. I've no figures to hand, but I don't think Skyrim is massively demanding.
A 560 should be fine. I play it with my 460 on the same resolution with a 2nd monitor displaying various things. Even with an over clock on my 460 a 560 will be better. It runs very well for me.
The 32" TV would probably let it run better tbh as it'd be lower resolution if it's a 720p (HD Ready) set. I'd assume the monitor would be 1920x1080 or 1920x1200 whereas the 32" would be 1366x768 or if it is Full HD - 1920x1080. However, a 560ti would be ample to run Skyrim. On my rig at 1920x1200 with everything on as high as it'll go, I get (according to fraps) at least 30fps. In buildings it can hit nearly 50fps at times.
I generally hit 50-60 fps with an overclocked GTX460, I've maxed everything but use 4xAA and 8xAF with FXAA off. A GTX560ti should easily run it.
Skyrim will have frame rate drops on the 560ti in some areas - misty bits seem particularly badly optimised. However on the whole it's perfectly capable of running anything that can be currently thrown at it, skyrim is the first game I've noticed where the fps dropped below ~30.
I'd assume if the OP is going to use a 560ti the PC he's dropping it into will have a fast enough processor that it isn't bottlenecked. That should be sufficient.
My laptop can handle Skyrim with a 540v @1366x768 on medium, which I think is great considering I didn't buy it with gamin in mind
