Scratch Build – In Progress Projekt: FreeNAS Storage

    Supermicro chassis I picked up open box @ BM
    800 Watt Antec PSU
    Supermicro X6DVL-EG
    Dual Xeon 604 2.8ghz
    4GB DDR2 EEC REG
    Highpoint 2320 PCI-e 8 port RAID controller
    (7) WD 2TB WD20EARS
    (1) Hitachi HDS723020BLA642
    FreeNAS

    I use this for home network backups/streaming content to my HTPC/Boxee Box, and for any storage needs at home. I know the cable management could be better...but this thing is a beast!

    I know a lot of people don't like these drives, but with TLER enabled, and 4K formatting they're just fine

    hmm... can't see any LEDs, highend LC gear etc. :)
    cablemanagment could be real PIA in this build...

    Sorry for the late response, been out of pocket for business. It's a scratch build considering the chassis was bought second hand and was missing quite a bit of the components, fan mounts, motherboard tray etc, had to fab up quite a bit of it. No backplane in this model supermicro chassis, thought y'all may think this was interesting.
